I don't know who you guys think you're fooling. Some of us were following the US space program for a generation before you were born.

SpaceX filled a void created by Obama's abandonment of NASA's fundamental purpose, diverting it to a wholly unrelated and farcical attempt to improve relations with the Muslim world. It's documented fact. Even to say that Obama's priorities were misguided is to vastly understate the damage he did to our space program.

We had to start over from scratch. And the only conceivable reason that so many of you are so excited by this mission is that you are all too young to know and understand that we've done it all before....decades ago. This is a yawner for me and any others who have seen it all before and have trouble pushing aside our disgust at nearly a half century squandered with nothing to show for it beyond establishing Political Correctness as our sole national purpose.

Yes, at least we have begun....again.

SpaceX was hired for manned operations during the Obama presidency. One of them fact things that won't go away no matter how much you hate someone.

A bit of a new experience to have someone unfamiliar with the concept of an instantaneous launch window claiming authority on space policy, but there we have it.

The astronauts launched using the SpaceX Dragon capsule to the ISS successfully splashed down today in the Gulf of Mexico in the first water return landing since 1975:

SpaceX Crew Dragon returns to Earth in first splashdown landing since 1975

SpaceX's Crew Dragon has returned to Earth months after the first crewed launch from U.S. soil in nearly a decade.

The spacecraft, carrying NASA astronauts Robert Behnken and Douglas Hurley, departed from the International Space Station, where it docked in late May, on Saturday and landed in the Gulf of Mexico Sunday afternoon. The splashdown off the coast of Florida marked the first water landing since 1975 when crews were still flying to and from orbit in the Apollo modules used for missions to the moon.

Although SpaceX became the first private company commissioned by NASA to send a rocket into orbit, Chicago-based jetliner Boeing will join the new space race next year when it plans to launch its CST-100 Starliner with astronauts on board.
Mission accomplished!

That may be but if so, it would appear that your attention toward space related things has slipped a bit in recent years.

As already pointed out, this is false and really a completely absurd fictional narrative. Clearly your animosity toward Obama has so colored your perception that you are incapable of perceiving facts as it relates to space flight during the Obama administration.

This mission was conducted under the commercial crew program which Obama started in 2014. It took 6 years to mature the designs and tests of the systems before it was certified to the level that they were allowed to launch humans.

Simply put, this SpaceX launch would not have taken place in 2020 if Obama had not funded the program to the level it was during FY 2014-2017. Trump does get the 2nd half of the credit for continuing the program to its maturity with this launch.

Great to see a successful end to the mission.
