And thus the insidious lie to the American people was born. In order to prevent hoarding and ensure that front-line healthcare workers had enough PPE, the CDC told us that masks weren't effective. It was a lie pure and simple.
I never believed that lie because it defied common sense. I posted this in early March:

Surgical masks are designed to prevent the spread of infection to OTHERS not to protect the wearer. I think these are designed for a single use. Surgical masks have a metal band to give a good fit around the nose. They are fairly flexible and when unfolded cover the nose and mouth.

I see plenty of medical workers in the trenches only wearing surgical masks. They aren't doing this just to protect the public. They are primarily protecting themselves. I've also seen workers wearing surgical masks OVER their N95s.
Surgical masks come in various levels of protection.
So they do have a pandemic plan who knew, it must have fell behind the filing cabinet.

I suspect that anyone who's doing this covertly isn't using the proper PPE.
