If you need your mask, like Linus needs his binky, keep wearing it. I don't care. The available science says it is useless. If you have a peer-reviewed study that says otherwise please share it.

There are actually studies, including a randomized controlled trial, that address the efficacy of using a mask. Those studies say they don't help and in the case of cloth masks make the infection rate go UP. Yet, whenever I post them, I'm told that "all the data" says that we should wear masks. Yet, I have not seen a single scientific study that says that except for one that was debunked by a more recent study in Korea and the randomized controlled trial I mentioned above.

All of these people yapping about "following the science" while wearing their useless masks haven't bothered to look into what the science actually says.

I’m told the same. People either ignore the links to scientific studies or argue about it and get mad. The evidence really does not support the universal use of masks and it baffles me why people want so desperately to believe otherwise.

Hopefully it’s a cloth mask and not a real one.

Well, yeah, that’s what people in the US have been told to use.

Construction dust mask. Totally worthless for medical purposes. So I guess your point is that you hope I get it. Well, I think I've already had it. Mild cold symptoms for a few days. That's it. But thanks for being so classy and perfectly Progressive.

I think they like the idea that they are doing *something* to help fight the virus. I can appreciate the thought behind that, but the truth matters. Wearing a useless mask when out in public isn't fighting the virus, it's self-medicating or self-counseling.

If you respect property rights the mask issue vanishes.
