I don't see it that way at all. I still think most people will hear that they can help mitigate the spread of the virus and will wear them, knowing that they can help protect others. Many of them will be republicans.

I see people who won't wear a mask for non medical reasons as people who don't care about helping to protect others. Some of them will even be democrats.

Bob you are beating the poop outta this dead horse. Many others have explained - many, many times - that this mask is not for you. It's for me.

It does not matter TO ME if you touch your face, or have it on crooked, or whatever. It doesn't matter if you wear it every day, but every day you wear it is a reduction in spread. It does let the air out - but the point is to limit how far your moisture flies and reduce - not eliminate - the viral load you are spewing. Itching underneath it changes nothing.

Construction dust masks - put an ice cube in your mouth, put the mask on, and let me know how far you can spit the ice cube. That's it. That's all we're trying to accomplish.

Why did the advice change? As already stated several (thousand) times - the original advice - that it's not that great for keeping YOU from GETTING SICK - still true - never changed. That it keeps sick people from spreading it? Still true. Never changed. That we have millions of sick people running around -because we learned that people can transmit it without symptoms? That is NEW INFORMATION - so the guidelines changed. It was not some secret scam. INFO CHANGED. So the recommendation changed. Weeks and weeks ago.

Wow this is difficult - and it shouldn't be. But I do sympathize with "all day" wearers - it sucks, no question. But until you confirm that you yourself are not sick - I will assume you are.

Yep, surgeons aren't wearing it to keep blood from flying into their face. Nope. It's to keep their "ice cubes" from flying into the wide open wound. It's THAT simple. Stop fighting it. Accept it and move on.

Yet, I have not seen a single scientific study that says that except for one that was debunked by a more recent study in Korea and the randomized controlled trial I mentioned above.

All of these people yapping about "following the science" while wearing their useless masks haven't bothered to look into what the science actually says.
If you repeat a lie enough, people will take it as a fact.

Remember when there was a large outcry about why the government isn't telling us to wear masks? It's probably the same people now telling us they don't want to wear masks.

As well as a socioeconomic status issue. Most educated, higher income, Democrat voting people wear masks, while most individuals of the lower socioeconomic classes do not.

Ding ding ding!!!!

So easy a child could understand it, yet....there is this still this debate.

In men, it often seems to be tied into ego. Now is a great time for a single woman to figure out who would be a terrible partner. Red flags out in the open. A strong, secure, good man will put on a mask even if there is a tiny chance of protecting others.

This is true. The whole "rage against the mask" personality type is a flag for other behaviors.

The risk of death is so ridiculously small that I am willing to accept that risk. If you are wearing the PPE you feel is making you safe, than why does it matter if others aren't; If its that big of a concern, perhaps you shouldn't leave the house.

Because the mask IS NOT PROTECTING ME. it is protecting others *from* me. I am far more likely to carry asymptomatically than to die of this. Other people are at higher risk and I want to help mitigate the spread. FOR THEM.

This is the caring way. It doesn’t have to impact me for it to be important.
