My husband is not working right now but he also didn't apply for unemployment. We both will always vote for a bigger safety net, but we personally don't believe in using it without a need, and since I'm still working, we haven't needed it, so we're leaving that for others who do need it.

I am shocked (not really) at how many boot-strappers have fallen over themselves in the rush to get in line for the maximum amount of government money the minute they found themselves in a less-than-ideal situation. Aren't these the same people who preach nonstop about how everyone should be prepared for every situation?
Never, ever, be surprised at their hypocrisy, just assume its going to happen. Some other right winger was denouncing Bernie followers as socialists, etc, but was all too happy to start his own thread praising his $1200 socialist check.

Whats amazing to me is how Trumpistas can walk both sides of the fence in the same post.

Restaurants, salons, etc cannot find workers willing to come back to work now because they can earn easily 2 times what they made prior to the shutdown due to the original CARES Act. Much of that money will be paid through Dec 31.

There is also a good chance they will extend these benefits with the next Bill.

Not a bad deal.

Wow, anyone who thinks a gross of $820/week is good I feel sorry for. I make that in less than 4 days....

Why don't you point out a few examples, please. Do you have private message conversations with them? Just curious.

The Federal Unemployment is taxable. Just like wages.

But not the bonus money.

Nope. Not bad at all.

But you could CHOOSE to reject that "socialism" and instead take a job at a restaurant to help out those struggling businesses. You could return those government checks.

Just a thought.

This with Republicans controlling Senate and White House? I didn't realize the House Democrats were so powerful.

Why is she waiting until 'next week' to contact officials.

At some point we all have to do our part -- lol.
It's her place to report. Jobs are open -- this is your first shift -- not there -- name gets called in that day.

I'm not being mean but you can only blame the system when everyone uses the system as it is meant to be used.
BUT...she has to provide proof she has implemented whatever safety standards are required. Maybe she's waiting to implement her safety stuff and THEN report the employees.
