Even when there was a choice of American made and not just American assembled from foreign source parts, they didnt necessarily offer value for the money. You want ten times more money, then you got to offer me ten times more value for that money. Slightly better than the foreign for ten times the price.... well maybe in dream world where I had a union job that payed enough wage to afford such luxury.

Problem is American wages for the majority are low enough, they couldnt afford to buy American made.

If there was an American made alternative, I would sure consider it. Unfortunately anymore we are getting "lipstick on a pig" products from ALL manufacturers while they want solid gold prices. It really is hard to buy anything that is truly superior quality anymore unless you can afford custom made. So left with only choice of trying to find the best of whats available, best bang for the buck.

The majority of people have a hard time making ends meet now, they could not afford to pay for US made products that would cost 4 to 5 times more than Chinas or other countries prices.

People lie all the time, Take Trump for instance, his companies buy millions of dollars worth of goods from China alone.

Paying more for domestic products, better service, and safer products/service is often advocated. It never happens.

We are all the authors of the world we live in.

If most consumers see a pad of paper selling for $1.00 and another selling for $0.97, they buy the cheaper one. They do not flip it over to see the country of origin.

We all hate air travel, but the crowding, terrible service and overall low satisfaction are all a result of everyone demanding the cheapest price.

If a politician wants to score points with the electorate, they rail against excess regulation and preach how businesses can regulate themselves. We end up with our parents and grandparents dying of neglect in long term care facilities, unsafe food, and Boeing 737 Max aircraft.

All of this and more is driven by the collective “us” demanding the cheapest possible ticket price for everything. When things go badly awry, we all demand things change, but it’s all forgotten when things normalize.

I remember when WalMart prided itself upon selling mostly American products, and would even help their American suppliers scale up to their volume needs. That sold in rural America where Wal Mart began, but when they came to the big cities, they started peddling the Chinese products to lower prices.

The cost advantage China once had over the US, and other places has eroded a lot in the last 20 years. If the current trend continues, in some of our lifetimes, China's cost advantage will be mostly gone. Remember, China must transport their goods a long ways. When the cost of energy rebounds, China's transportation costs + their ever-increasing labor costs will slow their growth.

China also now has strong anti-China sentiment across the globe.

I am hoping the way China has acted during this pandemic (that they caused) with disinformation, hording PPE's, and threatening to cut off our access to medicine has taken the blinders off people.

People around the world apparently have forgotten or just didn't care it is a communist regime, who oppresses it's own people, and has long reaching goals to dominate the world.

So saving a few bucks here and there is not worth it. That combined with much of their products being made with inferior materials and detail makes it an easy decision.

TDS...Orange Man Bad...we get it. Burn down everything to regain radical Liberal control.

Even if it means electing a new President who has severely declining mental capabilities.

When Joe comes out of hiding, & has to interact off-script, you are going to be shocked by his inability to construct & communicate a complex thought. Having a leader like that places America in danger because it emboldens our enemies.

Fortunately, you are in the minority. Moderate patriotic Dems, & Independents outnumber you. Most of them will attempt to buy American products, and put our Country's well-being in front of an oppressive communist regime's.

MAGA..KAGA...Buy American! Shun China.

Most governments across the globe are already taking actions to uncouple from China in every way possible.

Your hope has become reality, and my hope is that it will be absolute. We must start to increase the mining and refining of rare Earth minerals, and producing all things medical here in the U.S.. Those are the first 2 areas I think we must focus upon.

At the same time, we must own space. Whomever controls space, controls Earth. We must be able to destroy all of their satellites quickly.

Yeah that's all well and good but at the end of the day in a capitalist society price wins. Sure people "say" they would spend more but the reality is they don't. If there was a market it would be explored. My biggest pet peeve isn't necessarily the money aspect but the double faced politicians who claim communism is a danger to the world yet don't bat an eye to enrich the communist regime. It really shows how entrenched corporate America is in our political system.

And it's funny you mention Walmart because I was just telling someone about that the other day. When I was growing up they weren't really big in the northeast, the first Walmart I went to was in rural Maine. When I walked in they were handing out "Buy American" stickers at the door (much like they give out smiley faces now). Crazy how times have changed.
