It gives them license to go to the next extreme.

Part of a police officer's routine job is being a custody advocate -- engaged in ensuring the suspect is safely placed in custody using the least force as possible and inflicting the least harm. That sounds like something from a different planet when the suspect is black but it is pretty routine with white suspects.
