Those are all the Dems voting base.....(it’s also why Dems work so hard to get poisoned felons and illegals voting rights)

Firemen, police, military, farmers, church goers, normal working class and families are the Republican voting base....
Here's an interesting factoid just for you: Kentucky and Indiana have highest child abuse rates in the US - care to explain that away?

Even white liberals prefer to live & congregate around other whites, no matter how much they claim to love "diversity".

So true. Let's face it, even with all the protests going on you won't see non-blacks rushing to move into black neighborhoods for the sake of social equality. When I was an undergrad some of my white professors were preaching the virtues of cultural diversity but nearly all of the lived in Palos Verdes and Manhattan Beach (wealthy and predominantly white cities near Los Angeles).

That's 4 young men dead from drug addiction; two were brothers.

Like a gut punch every time I hear about another one. I can't pinpoint why the drugs are so bad in our old state. Lack of opportunity? Jobs? Depression in general?

I thank God every day I got my son out of there his freshman year of high school. Not that we didn't have problems in our new town and new state but . . nothing like what we left behind. My son went to college in Chicago, for God's sakes and still didn't end up like many of his old friends.

Poor, rural, run-down towns are no place to live. Not for young people. They are dying there.
That's just awful. Can't imagine what those poor parents are going through. Thank God you got your son away. Best thing you could have done.

A former coworker here in Nashville is from some tiny little town in SC, and her husband is from a small town in East TN. She told me recently that she'd never live in his hometown, because the drugs, alcoholism, and total lack of direction in people who are now in their 30s (not teenagers and early 20 somethings) is mind boggling.

A couple of weeks ago, I spoke to my former neighbor who lives in Michigan. She told me her 26-year-old son has been in and out of the hospital for drug addiction, and the son of shared acquaintance died of an overdose 3 years ago at the age of 20.

(That question was not directed at me, but to Feltdesigner)

Do you really think you OWN the threads you start, especially in "Politics and Other Controversies?"

Stop fighting with people who post things you can't or won't answer, like the following poster:

Actually, why don't you try just answering the question, R?

Here is my theory.

1) Labor. Large cities traditionally have alot of unions, and unions tend to support Democrats.
2) People who live in densely populated areas often have different needs from people living in small towns. For instance, public transportation is an important thing for people living in Seattle, Portland, or New York. Someone living in a small town who gets around by car isn't worried about that.
3) Certain industries cluster in big cities. The tech industry has a high amount of people who vote Democrat. It also attracts alot of people who normally vote Democrat.
4) Environmental issues tend to take precendent in big cities. When you live in a big city, it can get polluted. Many people try to figure out how to keep a place with a huge number of people clustered in one area from having high amounts of pollution.
5) Cities attract alot of artists, musicians, writers, and other creative types, who otherwise would have a more difficult time in small towns.
6) Cities also tend to have less conformity relative to small towns. If you're gay, you're going to find it hard to live in a small town where God and family take precendent. If you are single and don't have kids, it is going to be hard to live in a small town. Cities attract alot of people who otherwise would be ostracized in small towns. And that attracts Democrats.
7) Alot of minorities, especially Blacks, live in cities. Consider that for a moment.

Cities tend to lean Democrat due to who they attract.

Very true. He is being disingenuous here about cities in general. He lived in Denver once ( not sure why if it's for terrible ) and said this about it and Vancouver.

"Damn, now this is a close one. Denver, but just by a very, very slight margin, just because I like a dryer climate. If you ask me tomorrow, I might say Vancouver. When I lived in Denver, I still use to go to Whistler/Blackcomb occasionally. lol. The nice thing about Vancouver is you have the ocean, AND the mountains. Jeez, maybe I need to change my vote! "

I'd say to those here in this thread giving positive feedback to Pilot01 ask him why he would ever consider living ( if he actually had a choice ) in a very liberal city, in a very liberal country, with SOCIALIST healthcare?

Why do Democrats run ALMOST ALL cities?
Why indeed.

- 80% Americans live in cities
- Practically all metro areas are ran by Dems

It tends to suggest 80% of Americans don't trust Republicans to run things which directly affect their lives. They only vote them to run Federal big government stuff, and even that is explained by the fact that small rural States get as many Senators as States with much larger populations. And the electoral collage of course.

Why is this?
