I was attacked on this forum for saying that slavery is not as bad as genocide
In the context of saying Nazi Germany was much worse that the Confederate States of America.

Esther - Chapter 7-4
For we have been sold, I and my people, to be destroyed, to be slain, and to perish; now had we been sold for slaves and bondswomen, I would have kept silent, for the adversary has no consideration for the king's loss."

So which cause was more evil the Confederate States of America or Nazi Germany?

Centuries of brutal, dehumanizing slavery, vs years of mass killings, what an awful choice? Difficult to say which is more horrible, unjust and evil. They are both really, beyond words.

And up for (dis)honorable mention also should be the Inquisition, where people were terrorized, tortured and murdered over centuries, the Roman Catholic Church literally developing the most cruel and painful methods they could think of to kill you with great violence and yet really make it last as long as possible - ultimate pain, ultimate misery, ultimate horror was what they sought to inflict.

Both are bad but the Civil War occurred at a time that people were trying to keep things the way they were and the practices were still wide spread in the world and not unique to this country, it wasn't right but we see it through 21st century eyes. The Nazi's took a segment of their society where the only difference was their faith and systematically tried to erase their existence on this planet, as their reign of terror expanded so did their practices an atrocities.

Slavery existed long before the Confederacy and still exists today. Remarkable how many people spend so much energy attacking the Confederacy which has been gone for 150 years and do nothing about slavery today.

My uncle ( favorite as a child ) now deceased was a concentration camp survivor. Italian prisoner of war.
I will never forget the markings on his arm. R.I.P.....Young Americans of today spend more time destroying
rather than learning or creating a memorable history. The education system must be weeded of teachers with
political agendas of socialist indoctrination and replaced by those knowledgeable in truth and in depth
World History.

The Nazi's were clearly worse but the legacy of the Confederates is worse. While new generations in Germany were ashamed of the past and committed to being peaceful, cooperative people in a new united Europe, future generations of American Southerners (and other racists) to this day want to keep the principles of the Confederacy alive.

Is either or both worse than the legacy of communism, thinking especially of Soviet, Maoist and Khmer Rouge?

Which awful thing is more awful? Really? Both should be condemned with ferocity.
