I cannot for the life of me fathom how dumb the left is. People are finally realizing what an awful leader Trump is and many in his own party are finally turning on him. You have the Teflon President on the ropes. Usually in times of a national crisis, a president's approval rating rises, Trumps has been dropping. He bungled the Coronavirus response and made no attempt at all to unify the country after George Floyd.
So what does the left do? They refuse to crack down on rioting, looting, burning cities, autonomous zones, statues being defaced and destroyed and they support defunding or abolishing the police.
So instead of Trump versus a moderate, we get Trump versus anarchy and lawlessness.
I'm not saying the left is responsible for this but they DO OWN IT because it is the far left wing of their party that they are not speaking out against and stopping.
All Trump has to do now is run campaign ads with burning cities, statues being toppled, police standing down and scenes from CHAZ/CHOP.
I would GUESS that the calculus from the left here is that any chaos up until election day is a good thing because it will somehow damage Trump. Yet the left OWNS this! He can now paint himself as the law and order candidate, as the ALTERNATIVE to this madness.
This might play well in leftist college campuses and among the woke elites who live in gated communities with their own private security but it is NOT playing well in middle America! People tend to want to know that if they call 9/11 there will be cop sent and not a social worker. They'd like to know that the city they've decided to place their business in that they spent their life savings on will not turn into an autonomous zone where the rule of law no longer applies. They would like to visit a public park without seeing graffiti splattered all over monuments and headless statues.
Trump may be a terrible president but he is an EXCELLENT politician and he will ride this as hard as he can and the left has no one to blame but themselves if he is successful.

I'll say it again, in order for Biden to beat Trump. He has to have all of Clinton's voters and flip 10% of Trump's voters. It's that simple.
What makes people think that Biden can win simply taking every Democrat vote? In case anyone remembers 2016, Clinton had huge support from women and minorities but it wasn't enough. Because 2/3 of white males voted for Trump. Unless Biden can figure out how to take 10% of Trump's voters, he's won't beat Trump who is also an incumbent sitting President. History has always favored the sitting President and very few times they lost. It would have to be a really bad President and a very good challenger. That is why Bill Clinton was able to beat George H. Bush. He is younger and more articulate than Bush. But Biden is both older and not as articulate as Trump in debates.

Nobody who voted for Obama in 12 or 08 voted for Trump in 16...so Biden just has to get those voters back...and I know for a fact several voters who are Republican and voted for Trump by holding their nose in 16 will be voting for Biden this year because they know how terrible of a leader Trump has been.
All I can say is be ready for anything. It won't stop at the statues and the police department. Keep your eye out for voting by mail - which is one reason some liberal states are trying to keep the shutdown going.

The biggest indicator that things may be different for Trump -- not so easy....was the turnout at the primaries. Sanders lost in ridings he easily won against Clinton -- and lost big time and voter turnout was significant.
Even in ridings where Clinton did well, Biden managed to get MORE voters to show up.
All of this stuff -- chaos from the health crisis and the racial tensions --- aren't going to hurt Biden's chances.
It is going to be a close race and nobody can predict what can happen 5 months.
Plus, I doubt anyone wants to think what will happen if Trump wins again!!! You think the riots have been bad now...JUST WAIT until Trump wins AGAIN!! Its really going to hit the fans then!

Does the right not realize that many/most people on the left disapprove of rioters, most of whom this liberal considers to be thugs?

Sure they do. The "vast" majority of Protestors, turned Rioters are Always leftists, from the War on Wall street people, to the Communist, to the Bernie Bros, to Anarchist, to Antifa. They always have been.

I don't know about the right, but I am in the middle and I do put it all on the Democrats. Every Democrat pundit I see on TV has been in support of it all.
The middle left is being mobbed by neo-Marxists and are letting it happen. Where’s Biden? Why isn’t he speaking out about the violence? Does he think the White House should be torched by the mob because it represents white supremacy? Do you all think Lincoln should be defaced and removed? That’s the sick disease of the mob’s mental state. Your side is encouraging destruction and takeover by the mob. If you don’t speak up and put a stop to it, you are all part of the problem.
When it comes to US politics, I don't have a side. That you reflexively decided I did says a lot about you.
Not all of us allow politics and/or politicians to run our lives, and quite frankly, I think both the left and right in this country are batshi* crazy. You know nothing else but the constant drama, because it's been this way for so long.
