Do you think that filter will work with someone face to face spreading droplets? No it won't. Do you think any hospital would use that in a patient's room, and that's just for one patient? No they wouldn't.
Don't forget, this is Trump's deregulated administration. Anything goes for a buck. Just look at the FDA and the bogus Covid antibody tests circulating that aren't accurate.
Anything goes for fooling the rubes into thinking that this is nothing to get them out there and their kids in schools to get re-elected. Covid rally with waivers? Enough said.
Another hot spot according to health experts around the states.....private gatherings. News articles and individual anecdotes speak to how many 'graduation' parties have spread the virus.
We have a local business that started up -- drive in movies. Great idea. But as the new business posts pics they show crowds of people gathering, no masks, no social distancing. Young and old getting together and hanging out in a pick up truck.
I'd say worth the gamble if we were at 5% or lower in positivity -- but we are at something like 22% positivity rate right now.
Sure sure -- most may not get sick or die, but the ones that do get seriously sick may have life long health issues or they may die -- we don't know yet.
Hospital availability in our county 416 beds total. We can't afford to add many more and still allow for the normal hospital load.
No panic...no close down...just common sense. Encourage smaller 'social' bubbles. By now most if not everyone has expanded their social bubble. I have a group of 6 I will hang with right now. That's okay......but some folks are just done with it all and hanging out with whoever wherever.
Can't answer that question about the 'bars' being open because they have never been allowed to open in my county. So if they aren't open they are not a hot spot.

It's always a matter of mitigation not elimination. You can't expect politics or the media at any level to help mitigation efforts, so it's best to get information else where. This link updates often.

I would think that filter would work better than nothing.
No one every pretended or claimed to eliminate the virus -- just mitigate the spread. THe concern from the onset was if action was not taken to slow the spread, the spread would be so quick that it would bring health care systems to the breaking point.
The frightened will come up with experts and reasons that everything spreads the virus, and the solution is to comply with directions from tyrannical leaders - wear masks, stay at home, close your businesses, it’s ok to riot, kill Whitey, demand more govt aid, teach your children to be afraid, conservatives are Satan, etc.
Open up and let the cards fall will they may. If you’re frightened, stay home. If you’re not frightened, go back to living. I’ve had enough.
Somehow, I am guessing you aren’t elderly or immunocompromised or suffering from an underlying condition. Easy to say this when you don’t have skin in the game.
Also, do you think it is fair that those who are elderly, immunocompromised, etc. either a) live under what is essentially house arrest for months or even years (now they are talking about this thing lasting until 2023) or b) be risk dying if they go out and catch COVID?
And, most particularly, are you saying that your supposed right not to wear a mask and go out responsibility is somehow more important than letting people who are at risk out of their house safely? Are you seriously maintaining this?
Because all I can think is: Selfish, selfish, selfish, selfish. Or yeah, and stupid too.
COVID is so insanely dangerous, so dangerous that you have to be tested for it to even know if you have it.
Close down every single bar in the world, no exceptions!
So dramatic. We don't have to have all bars opened or all bars closed. We can adopt strategies that allow areas where there is little to no spread, no stress on resources etc. from the areas where the hospital are at capacity and resources are limited.
When you go to the hospital with an upset stomach they test you for various things. Of course they test for COVID if you are having respiratory issues. And folks who don't have symptoms but are concerned they may have been exposed get tested so they don't put people in their 'bubble' at risk who may get seriously sick.]
Here in Charleston SC -- bars, restaurants, huge tourist resorts 'opened up' and over the last month to six weeks we have seen them HAVE to shut down because their employees are sick.
IF we had taken a more scientific, cautious approach to all of this -- we may not be at a 22 per cent positivity but still back at the 5%.
