I don't know that I'd say there's no future for moderate politics but time will tell as the younger generations age.

If people actually talk to younger people (particularly under about 35), the ones who fall somewhere on the political left or right aren't necessarily the same extremists portrayed in the media.

For example, many liberal leaning younger people aren't saying that police should be done away with so there's this complete anarchy with no one to enforce laws, but they do acknowledge there are some serious issues with police brutality among a minority of officers that need more attention than what's been given.

Another example, many conservative younger people don't want government giving long-term handouts so able bodied people who can work don't have to, but they don't want people who are down on their luck through no fault of their own to be callously ignored without a hand up either.

Could you find someone who would be what people think of as "extremists"? Sure, and that exists among every demographic group but it's more prevalent the further up the age pyramid one goes in my experience, particularly with older people who are usually more politically active (older Baby Boomers especially) turning hard right.

The right anymore is SO FAR RIGHT, even a liberal Republican like Biden looks like a communist to them. Apparently they flunked government class in school. They wouldnt know an actual communist if it bit them on the butt. Anybody not in lockstep with their beliefs is a cannibal that preys on small children and wants to brainwash them by forcing them to wear masks or get immunization shot. But its amazing how they dont recognize their own party similarities to 1930s Fascism. Thats why they keep trying to lie and say fascism is leftist. Its not, its right wing authoritarianism demagoguery, just what Trump and his Qball supporters are promoting. Fascism in 30s was in fact mostly just a new name for extreme Royalist thinking from more feudal era. Look how friendly Hitler was with former German royalty. Funny how they thought to use each other. King with absolute authority and saying any stupid thing to justify what he wants. Crush all opposition with an iron fist. Its just too close a fit so they have to try and subvert its definition. Think about it, the current right wing crowd have crowned their KING and want to give him absolute power and corrupt/diminish any actual democracy or rule of impartial law. Brutally crush the opposition sending in the King's troops. Yea not your traditional effort at compromise for the good of the country. More like a Putin kind of "democracy" and blatant power grab. "You can vote for anybody as long as its me, I will poison anybody else that challenges me. Its a fake election if I dont win and get my way, cause everybody loves me." Sound familiar?

Do I think you will see moderate govt get elected and not be stonewalled by the right wing Qballs. Nope. Too much disparity in modern economics in USA, no shared experiences. The "greatest generation" shared WWII, shared a foxhole of sorts, it truly makes a difference. Compare that to Boomer generation. The poor Boomers got drafted to Vietnam, the wealthy Boomers got a college exemption cause they were too valuable to waste as cannon fodder. Or had bone spurs or some other excuse. Or escaped to Canada. Now we have wealthy "aristocracy" that have the "let em eat cake" mentality. And use militarized police to keep them in their place.

Both extremes are destroying America. We probably have not gone to the point of no return, but I am not hopeful for the country's future whether it's Trump like or AOC like.

Wrong. The EXTREME left might believe this. They're as nuts as the extreme right is. Moderate, rational Democrats believe in having controlled, sensible, LEGAL immigration.

I'm a "liberal," I tend to vote Democrat, and I simply don't understand why the US government -- Republicans and Democrats -- didn't begin to crack down on illegal immigration as soon as it began to be a significant problem. Why have they allowed it to continue for decades? Why? Why do they not go after the many employers (lots of them Republicans) who hire them?

Don't forget that millions of people who vote are LEGAL immigrants themselves, and they're as ticked off as anyone by the passes that illegals receive.

Oh, please. The Republicans were the party of "NO!" when Obama was in office. Obstructionism every step of the way. Rpublicans are a big part of the dysfunction.

And we wonder why little ever gets accomplished.

The hope for one party - illegal aliens settle in swing vote states and tip the balance of power. They mask this desire by appealing to an empathetic side when it is simply a power play. Never mind that one party In same breathe and with a blind eye toward the issue above also wants free Health care and free education for all.

How could that possibly work?

It couldn't possibly work. Which is another reason I strongly believe in controlled immigration and protected borders. Because I also believe in universal health care.

Will we ever bring this country back from the brink of extremism? its really scary what's going on. We don't have moderates anymore its either you join my party ideology or you're a traitor and get primaried voted out.

We need a voice of reason candidate I think Biden is as close as we can get at this point. But even he will prob be controlled by the fringe sad.
As soon as all decenters are in re-education camps.

So, you believe in Socialist Fascism?

You see, before 1913 and the vote to turn America into a Fascist Nation, we had wide open borders.
People came and enjoyed all the unlimited freedoms & liberties America stood for.

1913, everything changed. Government could now put the boot on the peoples throats for the first time.
They started taking from the people directly. Yes, taking.... stealing... robbing. Government became a huge threat to the people.
You are going to take, steal & rob from me, but not the people here you don't know about, and they also get the benefits, privileges and immunities given to those stolen from, movement started.
1913, America lost it's endowed rights, by becoming a Fascist Nation.
For the first time, government punished the people for the more successful they were.(Marxism 101)
Freedom & Liberty was now Taxed.
Repeal the 16th Amendment.
