Perhaps the US could go for being better instead of merely different? Because right now we're paying more and getting less.
And you don' have to have "government running everything". Go Swiss. Go German. (The Swiss like guns and money, that should appeal.)
Well if people got upset over paying a tax penalty for not having health insurance I'm sure the German plan would go over like a lead balloon. Be careful what you wish for......
How much does a German pay for healthcare?
The government health insurance scheme is administered by 108 Krankenkassen and they charge the same basic rate of 14.6 % plus a possible average supplemental rate of 1.1 % of your eligible gross salary with a cap set at a maximum monthly income of 4,688 Euros (2020 figures).
What happens if you don't have health insurance in Germany?
The treatment would be paid for by your last Krankenkasse (or the local AOK if you were never in the system). Yet, you owe the full amount of health insurance premiums, plus 1% interest per month, and you won't be able to get back into normal care unless you pay them off in full or declare bankruptcy.
Here....I've added Switzerland for you:
What happens if you don't have health insurance in Switzerland?
If you fail to insure yourself within three months, the canton will chose a provider for you and you will be sent a premium bill by the provider. Cover and premiums are backdated to the beginning of your residence.
Because we aren't those 32 nations and we are supposed to have limited government as opposed to government running everything?
You're certainly entitled to your opinion, but Trump has a different opinion. And a much more populist one, at that.
“We’re going to have insurance for everybody. There was a philosophy in some circles that if you can’t pay for it, you don’t get it. That’s not going to happen with us. The government's going to pay for it."
--Donald J. Trump, January 2017
Because we aren't those 32 nations and we are supposed to have limited government as opposed to government running everything?
I want to hear you say that when you're 65 and have to pay for private insurance. Of course you'll sing a completely different song.
