I think the boy's bathrooms in my high school had condom machines, and the girl's bathrooms had tampon machines.

For the party that's working hard to reduce the number of abortions in the country, providing free access to birth control to teens seems to be in line with their philosophies.
One more way to try to reduce unwanted pregnancy.
I didn't see anywhere in the article where it said how the distribution would occur - is it a vending machine, or in the nurse's office, etc?
Might as well pass out syringes and crack pipes. Hey, if kids are going to do it, the socialist nanny state should provide for them.
I think there's a fine line between authorizing cheap gear to help make sure unwanted consequences don't happen (i.e. unwanted pregnancy) vs. offering people mind altering drugs. That said, for the syringes, while I wouldn't be in favor of handing them out in public schools, I do support clean needles/syringes exchanges as it has been shown to cut down on HIV transmission, etc., which saves taxpayers in the long run on costs.
No, it sends a message that it’s acceptable for 12- and 13-year olds to have sex. True that the kids might do it anyway (most won’t at that age), but is the teacher emphasizing that is is WRONG to have sex that young?
The only message it sends is if your going to engage in sex use a condom please.
High schools? Yes. I have no problem with that. Every college campus my kids and I visited before they made their final enrollment decision gave out free condoms to students at the health center and various other strategic campus locations. I have no problem with that, either.
Just a little over the non sequitur edge, don't you think?
But a school passing out condoms isn’t? As I’m sure you are aware, many cities already pass out syringes and every crackhead has a right to a sterile, government-certified crack pipe.

Sure, but what do condoms have to do with illegal drugs? That's where the non sequitur comes in.
