No one can save those already infected who still have unresolved cases. And then it will take a while to slow the spread. The orange tumor got us here in less than a year from ZERO cases, Look at the numbers now and problems Joe is facing to start. Never mind the economic damage and insurrection he inherits. Clinton turned it around from Bush Herburt, GW screwed that, BHO turned that around and the orange tumor screwed that. Joe has his work cut out for him. How about you try to help instead of go after him BEFORE he is even sworn in?

What is really sad and unfortunate are those that have the mindset of as long as you don't die from covid everything is fine.

Millions and millions of people are going to experience lifelong side effects from this virus.

WOW!! It's been roughly a year, and you already know there are "lifelong side effects" for "millions and millions"?

This is why no one wants to listen anymore. The fear-mongers would do well to turn it down a few notches.

Honestly, it is the hyperbole that I've grown so tired of throughout this process. It just gets so old and I think most see through it now.

Actually Trumpers said Covid was a hoax that will all go away if Biden was elected. When have the Democrats ever minimized the severity of Covid?

Fauci and Tump was the Imperial College of London and fortunately it was wrong.

Which model?

Talk about revisionist history - here's the state of things march 2020 - fauci and trump using imperial model - and UNDER ESTIMATED deaths by a pretty big spread.

https://www.nbcnews.com/science/scie...eiled-n1173601

As I've said several times now - if you find a model that OVER-estimated - with restrictions in place - that was published last March or April - please post it.

Meantime - I thought you were worried about deaths. "Sky is falling" is unrelated to deaths. That's about resources - a totally separate discussion.

We have hospitals overwhelmed. NOT all of them. ONE is too many. THAT is the "worst case scenario" for most models - and it did indeed happen, and it's happening right now. We are focusing on death because that's the topic of the OP - but it's not the main reason for any restrictions. Nope. That would resources. Dead people do not need resources.

If I feel like looking up the press conference, I'll post the video. Then I'll add to it Fauci suggesting not to wear a mask. Try not to post one sided information. There are usually two sides to every story.

The goal posts have been moved far too often on this pandemic, and when you cry wolf too often, people stop listening.

And that is a big problem. When the medical information changes, and it has frequently with this novel virus, the medical recommendations change. The has been much more of a problem for conservatives who are more resistant to change by definition, and easier for liberals who tend to follow the medical more closely.

Agree.

I'll resist the urge to stereotype, but clearly most people will go with the first thing they're told and it can be difficult to undo that when they are locked in. In addition, all it takes is for something to be said once by these authorities and once the internet gets ahold of it, the message goes viral.

I can't tell you how many times I've heard someone say, when "they" figure it out, let me know. And as stated earlier, part way through this process, masks became the end-all-be-all instead of distancing. Clearly it was the wrong point of emphasis, but you couldn't get people to stop preaching that mantra (and anyone can check this and other forums). People completely stopped talking about distancing.
