Watching inane stuff like football cuts into good practice time. Doesn't surprise me the bowl led in with the Black national anthem. And I really don't see how it is Black groups somehow think they're so special. LOTS of people of all color skin have a lineage that has slavery in it. Yesssss, White people too.

And there are LOTS of countries that still practice blatant segregation. See any Black folks in Russia lately? See any Blacks, Hispanics, non Russian Asians or American Indians in the Russian military? No. And you never will either. If an American Black who is an avowed communist wanted to integrate to Russia and join their military they would probably let him or her. But the job they would be given won't pass for glorious. Probably scrubbing toilets and floors and serving tea and vodka to some middle rank company commander stationed in Siberia.

Black "activist" types just love to whine and cry about how horrible the US is. If one is Black they just can't catch a break. There's white sheets and hood behind every corner. These activist groups are the ones pushing segregation. Hate to tell them but the Klan is a nothing these days, as are all other White supremacist groups. They're a bunch of Budweiser swilling ignorant spodes hiding in the back country wearing pieced together "uniforms" and jerking off to pictures of Hitler.

In American history how are Blacks any worse off than the Chinese were? OK, so Chinese folks immigrated here by choice, but once they landed they were treated like slaves. The only difference is their new owners didn't have to pay shipping costs. Yet today the Chinese have advanced to positions of great wealth and power. Both legally and illegally. Compared to the Chinese Triads Black crime groups are Neanderthals. Chinese businesses thrive and expand. It's the same with Hispanics, East Indians, Middle Easterners.

Now American Indians on certain reservation are not doing so well. If Blacks think they have it so rough they should visit the Rez. They don't all operate huge casinos and rake in bank. Truthfully a White person would have a better chance driving through Harlem flying a Klan banner than driving through certain parts of the Rez I live close to after dark with a mask on. That goes for ANY non Indian. There's even signs up saying "Non Indians do not go further." Official signs mind you ,put up by the Tribal Council. A few years back a Black guy was lured by three Indian guy out to such and area from a bar in town by the promise of a "good time." Which turned out to as him being stabbed 37 times, his throat cut from ear to ear, and scalped.

So I have to wonder, why all this fawning and pandering to Black people as deserving of special treatment by American society as a whole? Black history month, Black nationalist anthem, Black lives matter, this black square up everywhere for "Black support" on and on. There's a lot of not Black folks out here way worse off. I'll stop seeing skin color as soon as it quits being pointed at and expounded on.
If you have been paying attention to the thread. The anthem's been called the Black National Anthem since 1919. It's not new or divisive. It wasn't considered a divisive song from 1919-2000s but y'all are tripping now.

Nobody is tripping except you. Has it been played at national sporting events since 1919 as an alternative to our real National Anthem?

Because how can you demand equality if you don't also demand special treatment.

Democrats are all about contradictions. It's a shame we don't have Asian, Spanish, Gay, atheist, Islamic, and Trans national anthems too.

We need a national anthem for all protected classes.

Pilot 1 is quite correct. And I can say personally that I'm hardly "tripping." And I did cite numerous other examples of Black associated "tripping" besides the Black anthem. And ALL of those including the "anthem" ARE indeed divisive. But, I also agree with another reply to my first post that correctly pointed out much of the divisive strife is pushed by two opposing groups of Whites. For brevity I'll call them "woke" and "non woke."

Then there are those of us who don't go by either moniker. We don't pander or slander. Speaking for myself I don't have any Black friends. But I only have one friend in this world. And she is my world. I don't have a black square painted on my door either of up on my social media page. Black History month I don't mark on my calendar as a time to march and demonstrate. I'm really fed up with Black this and Black that. I don't care. Skin tone doesn't matter to me at all. Having it "in my face" as so many are proud of doing brings my hackles up.

But I'm not "tripping'" as you so eloquently stated. That would imply I'm high on some sort of substance. I'm not. And my morning coffee "wokes" me quite enough. I'm good.

Tell that to the people who keep calling it the "black national anthem" as though the Banner somehow only referred to the whites in the U.S.
Who cares if you’ve never heard of it? The world doesn’t revolve around you. Millions of things happen that you aren’t aware of, doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. Get off your pedestal.

Yes yes, because if it’s not 100% white, it’s nonsense according to you. It amuses me that people like you get left behind as the rest of the world moves on while you guys stay stuck in this repeat mode.

Anybody thinks its odd that White people have no problem with black people having our own:
Churches
Schools
Neighborhoods
Masons
Funeral homes
But they find out this 100 year old secret that we have our own national anthem and they are upset. If you want to be taken serious about unity start with schools, churches, and neighborhoods. The same people who think having a separate national anthem is dumb will speak volumes about the virtues of segregation.

Were was it an alternative. The Star Spangled Banner was played as well. It's a freedom-fighting song in the purest sense. Have you looked at the lyrics.

"Lift every voice and sing
Till earth and heaven ring
Ring with the harmonies of Liberty
Let our rejoicing rise
High as the listening skies
Let it resound loud as the rolling sea
Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us
Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us
Facing the rising sun of our new day begun
Let us march on till victory is won
Stony the road we trod
Bitter the chastening rod
Felt in the days when hope unborn had died
Yet with a steady beat
Have not our weary feet
Come to the place for which our fathers sighed?
We have come over a way that with tears has been watered
We have come, treading our path through the blood of the slaughtered
Out from the gloomy past
Till now we stand at last
Where the white gleam of our bright star is cast
God of our weary years
God of our silent tears
Thou who has brought us thus far on the way
Thou who has by Thy might Led us into the light
Keep us forever in the path, we pray
Lest our feet stray from the places, our God, where we met Thee
Lest, our hearts drunk with the wine of the world, we forget Thee
Shadowed beneath Thy hand
May we forever stand
True to our God
True to our native land
Our native land"
Googled the Lyrics.

Clearly it's absolutely brimming with divisive energy. You can even see were it says "white gleam of our bright star", as a direct attack on White Americans. Of course theirs that lyric of "All whites are racist" in the middle of the song. Like I said y'all are tripping over yourself to diss something that has been mainstream in Black/Diverse communities for the better part of a 100 years.

The United States has only one National Anthem, the Star-Spangled Banner.

There is no such thing as a "black" national anthem. It is a figment of certain people's wild imaginations.

I can write a song in my bedroom and call it the national anthem. But it doesn't make it so.

My opinion on it. We've always been divided. Whenever I hear people say "we're more divided than ever", I roll my eyes. I think when some people talk about division, they aren't talking about schools, neighborhoods, and churches. It's really about "If Blacks are to be seen, they aren't meant to be heard".

Some people who complain about "Lift Every Voice And Sing" are the very persons who will defend the Confederate flag and say things to the effect of "Confederates did nothing wrong". It's not really about true unity for some people. For some, it's about "My culture rules any and one either submits or else".

This is why whenever I hear about unity, it isn't truly about unity. There has never been true unity.
