A true Republican to a Leftist is one that bows down to the Left.

I used to like Mitt, and voted for him as President, but I was disgusted how weak he was running against Obama...no fight in him at all. I like him even less now.

He's not up for election until 2024, so we'll see how long the memories of Utah's citizens are. He's also 73, so he might not run again. I think that decision will be made based on his polling going into the 2024 election cycle.

Utah was willing to vote for Trump, but more than any other state they voted for the alternative (Evan McMullin) in 2016. Utahns don't seem to exactly love Trump. They tend to be more socially conservative, which means that Trump the bullying manwhore is very off-putting to them. He does line up with them politically, but they'd rather have a good and decent human being for a president. Romney won't get primaried for his contempt and opposition to Donald Trump, though Utah might be the only red state where his seat would be safe.
I have a couple conflicting thoughts here. I'm Mormon, and grew up in Utah. My parents will probably always vote R regardless of the candidate, but they're in their 70's. My siblings (seven of them) have varying political leanings, and not all of them are even registered Republicans. Some Utahns have a dislike of Romney even though he's Mormon because he's too unlike them; rich, arrogant, seen as a Coastie.

I have no idea what will happen - there are too many different factions in play here. I can say what I HOPE will happen - that Mitt gets the boot. He's a douche, vapid, and thinks he deserved the presidency based on nothing more than the fact that he's rich.

Mitt Romney Could Soon Pay the Price for Voting to Convict Trump

Some Utah Republicans are rumbling in disgust over Republican Sen. Mitt Romney’s vote to convict former President Donald Trump during Trump’s Senate impeachment trial.

“I’ve gotten phone calls and emails, and I’m seeing a lot of chat on Facebook that people want to do a measure of censure against Sen. Romney

Oh no! A censure from the party full of insurrectionist loons? That sounds... AWESOME!

The good news that Romney is still a lot richer than Trump, has more power than Trump, will live longer than Trump, and isn't facing countless indictments and prison time... like Trump.

I bet Romney's okay with things as they are. LOL

Yeah, the Republicans jumped right on censuring those who voted to convict Trump. It's disgusting that they put party over country. Mitt is the main one who had a spine and stood up to the Republican party. Thankfully others have been able to do the same.

Um - treason is a specific crime with a specific legal definition.

And Romney didn't commit it. As much as you'd like to ignore this inconvenient fact, the US government is a different entity than your version of the GOP.

I'm pretty sure Romney is smart enough to know he might pay a political price for his vote, and is OK with it if that's what happens.
