He won’t be able to hold on to these numbers over 4 years. The Presidency is a powerful amplifier which he doesn’t have access to anymore. He will fade because of this.
Plus, somebody new always comes out of nowhere.
Your first mistake was thinking he will fade away. The GOP wants him. Republicans have been expressing that they want him to stay in politics and want to work with him. Lindsey Graham said he and many others would be looking forward to it if he can also change up his attitude, and they have expressed to him he needs to change up the way he presents himself. But they're all for it. Trust me, the man is going to take a break to get some real rest, and then he'll be back into the ring.
Hmm...lets see. Trump LOST the election in 2020. The GOP wants to run him again in 2024? What for? So he can lose again?
Brilliant. /s
There isn't much of a good history of failed presidential candidates. The only President to serve nonconsecutive terms was in the 19th Century. Past that, the closest comparison to Trump would be the failed attempt by Theodore Roosevelt to win a second election after serving 7.5 years as President. This involved a fractured Republican party that resulted in a landslide victory for Democrats even though the Republican candidate vote plus Roosevelt vote would clearly have won that election if they just ran one candidate.
Past that, only Nixon comes to mind. He lost as a candidate after serving as VP. Then he won 8 years later against a non-incumbent.
So while Nixon was a VP as opposed to POTUS when he lost, that's probably the best comparison he'll get. Especially if Biden doesn't run in 2024 and Harris runs like Nixon did (VP->POTUS candidate).
However, I'm not so sure Trump will remain as relevant as he is now. However, he just needs about 30% of the primary vote to win, which he could probably get if he did run. But, Trump is fading from the news cycle. Without his megaphone on Twitter, we really don't hear much from him.
Here's some Trump mentions today on various news sites:
CNN: 3
Fox News: 6
MSNBC: 3
WaPo: 4
These numbers used to all be in the double-digits.
We shall see if it continues to fade. There is simply less to talk about. I think we might continue to see Trump in the news cycle when it comes to lawsuits and whatnot. But, with impeachment over, what else is there to talk about in regards to Trump?
The only thing better than smashing a twice-impeached, corrupt republican dictator-wannabe once ... will be doing it again in three years!!!
A lot can change from 3 years. Only 60% for the American people approve of Biden at the moment. Even CNN called him out on 4 lies during his Town Hall speech. Also, people tend to forget A LOT as time goes by when it comes to politics.

Yeah I don't think anyone will forget Trump's behavior post election. January 6th is now a date that will be remembered forever. If you guys don't think Donald Trump lost a significant amount of his voters after that display, which was again not enough votes in 2020, I suggest you think again.
There are plenty of people on the GOP side that are better. I will vote Libertarian and red down ballot if they choose this fraud agian. He lied and caused a riot

“Despite possessing all the powers of incumbency and leading a united GOP, Mr. Trump lost the presidency. If he returned for another White House contest, leading a divided party at war with itself and out of power, he’d be wiped out.”
