No Way Out was a revelation for people in 1950 because it was one of the first non-caricature depictions of a black character, and it put Sidney Poitier on the map.

And yes, we do need continuing education, to make sure each successive generation doesn't make the same mistakes of the past. How do you think the racist attitudes about blacks make it from the 1860's (and before) to still being prevalent in the 1960's?? They should have died with the last of the Civil War generation.
This is the language that is frightening. Who decides what is an outdated racial/ethnic/sexist language/depiction? Some things are obvious and can be agreed upon by 99% of the public, but it does not stop there as we have already seen. Shakespeare, Mozart, the Greek and Roman philosophers among others have been targeted, math is racist, questioning election results is criminal etc. etc.
Once people like this poster have the taste of power in their mouths they become insatiable gluttons.
Again, the goal is not ridding the world of offensiveness. The goal is power and I don't want to see power in the hands of the cancelers. History has shown what they will do with it.

Its not libs dem or progressives behind that, its right wing religious repubs every time, the ones that despite the Constitution/separation of church/state somehow manage to skirt that in the FCC which is a govt entity to CENSOR the public airwaves which is why every freaking time you see a news report or video or movie where so called "bad" language is used, they insert an ANNOYING and loud BEEEEEEEEPPPPPPPP!!!!
Any "sexual" scenes or nudity were blurred out or cut, Lucy and Ricky and other actors in the 1960s era sitcoms were not allowed to even use the word PREGNANT and Ricky was not allowed to place more than one knee on the bed when Lucy was in it because more was "'suggestive" of the dreaded and feared sexual ACTIVITY!!!

Women on the beach were subjected to having their bathing suits measured by police and fined or worse if the suit was "too high" like more than 6" above the knees, and back before that it was illegal for a woman to even show her ANKLES in public, it was considered "obscene"!!!

Alcohol was banned in the 20s as was prostitution between consenting adults, poligamy and more by the same kinds of right wing groups.

And with the recent Dr Seuss claims of books being "banned" it was the estate itself that decided to cease publishing 6 of their books, but that didnt stop the religious reich repubs or book burners;

like the one who decided he didnt approve of any "gay" related books in the public library so he checked 4 of them out and burned them on video, the library filed a criminal complaint of property theft and damage and the idiot was forced to pay for the books he destroyed that didn't belong to him. Turned out he was the head of some "pro life" "pro family" rightwing group.

Another example, the book "To kill a mockingbird" a rightwing reverend in a repub controlled Southern state "complained" and got this book banned because, wait for it....

It discused sexual activity briefly, somewhere in the larger work of the book!

"In July 1996, the Superintendent of the Moss Point School District in Mississippi announced To Kill a Mockingbird would be reviewed by a group of parents, community members and teachers after a complaint came from Reverend Greg Foster about the novel's racial descriptions and discussion of sexual activity. The novel was ultimately banned from being accessed in the school district."

Here's another rightwing repub behind banning this one;

The Harry Potter series

"The ALA cites the reasons for censorship as "anti-family, occult/Satanism, religious viewpoint, violence",[ but the American Civil Liberties Union of Texas's "Free People Read Freely" report also cited concerns over sexual content.

In one case in Lawrenceville, Georgia in 2007, a parent asked that the Harry Potter books be kept out of classrooms, suggesting that the novels promote the practice of witchcraft and contain violent content that is not suitable for her 15-year-old daughter to read as she was becoming inspired to try witchcraft like the characters do in the series."

So that way white kids know that this isn't the right way to look at people, and black kids know that society has bettered itself and the world doesn't see him like that and anyone that does is a scumbag.

The movies are important for a historical context so that's why they should still exist, and the studio has every right to explain the history and context.

People being mad about this would be like Nazis being mad that they can't just throw around big nosed images of Jews on German media.
Your take is like the proverbial frog in a pot of water slowly being brought to a boil.

Yes! My point exactly! We get into trouble when others make this decision for us! Who is to say what content is offensive? One extreme would being triggered by all movies that do not contain at least one minority in the cast. Should all of these movies be cancelled? That’s the direction we are headed as the criterion of offenses grows bigger and bigger by the day. Soon we are attempting to placate all subgroups from getting their feelings hurt or being under represented. This is already happening.

My wife and I were starting to watch a new popular movie on Netflix the other day. Within the fist few scenes, the young girl in high school raises her hand in class and blasts the teacher that there isn’t a strong feminist female character in the book the class has been assigned to read. I turned it off immediately. Now I’m not against the message at all. But I’m starting to loathe this political messaging in movies, tv shows, music and sports. It now appears to be obligatory.

Somebody else is FORCING the narrative on the masses. Are we all a pack of 5 year olds that need a lecture from mommy? I guess we know the answer.

LOL the left will eat itself... they don't even recognize that they have already gone too far and people will reject them during the mid-terms. If they keep pushing this agenda it's going to be a bloodbath for them.

Well stated and agree. The ulterior motive has always been the same: more power for censorship. No one asked for warnings, discussions, and talks about classic American movies that weren't always politically correct.

Might as well cancel The Sopranos for portraying Italian-Americans in a bad way. Oops I mean a warning and discussion about Italian stereotypes to gain attention before the calls to ban it come up.

Media will hide how upset people are with Democrats. You pretty much have to go here or YouTube comments to hear the truth from people.

Airline movies are censored even though they claim they aren’t. They take out words like quee.r and retar.d but will fully expose scenes with excessive foul language /mass murders.

Perhaps it should be obligatory that the Dems listen to “You can’t always get what you want” by The Rolling Stones! True equality is a unicorn. We can only hope that the dog chases its tail long enough, it eventually falls asleep.
