Jesus H. Christ, life was a whole lot more pleasant before being "sensitive" became a fashion statement.
Get over your damn self! The world is ugly and mean and God didn't write you a guarantee at birth that your widdle feewings would never get hurt!
Hey, I'm not offended if someone rips on my Jewish roots by calling me a **** or my Scandinavian roots by calling me a square. I'll jus5 knock them on their damn ass and walk away. Guarantee you they won't be using that language again.
And this is the problem. The options are a "conversation" (one-sided lecture) from our betters or the dustbin.
Do you think people are too stupid to understand that an older movie comes from a different time and place without being babysat by cultural nannies?
What other side is there??? The last thing needed is some bigot trying to explain the upside of outdated racial/ethnic/sexist language/depictions existing in classic films. There is no upside, and the only reason they exist at all is because people at the time were too damn stupid to know any better than to not put them in the films in the first place.
No Way Out was a revelation for people in 1950 because it was one of the first non-caricature depictions of a black character, and it put Sidney Poitier on the map.
And yes, we do need continuing education, to make sure each successive generation doesn't make the same mistakes of the past. How do you think the racist attitudes about blacks make it from the 1860's (and before) to still being prevalent in the 1960's?? They should have died with the last of the Civil War generation.

An actor playing "yellow face" as opposed to a democrat president locking tens of thousands of real Japanese Americans in concentration camps? Which in your estimation is the worse of the two?
So why don't we cancel the democrat party? They seem to have been on the wrong side of nearly every historic injustice perpetrated here in the US.
Half the country has their existence funded by the dems so they won't speak ill of their current masters.

I bet you see racism in everything...
I don't doubt that some caricatures and other representation of black Americans in tv/movies/writing were racists, but caricatures are part of entertainment and all are not necessarily bad. Some can make us appear stronger, thinner, heavier, smarter, dumber, and highlight some of the mental and emotional challenges we all face. These things can be used across all categories of entertainment (e.g. dramas, comedy, action, sci-fi, etc.). If we can't caricature people then entertainment dies. It is literally what makes it entertainment.
[quote=Mathguy;60545601]There are a number of old cartoons that they will not show at all, not even with a disclaimer unless part of a late night educational angle and maybe not even then.
ie) Bugs Bunny Nips the Nips a WW2 cartoon with obvious racist charicatures.

Racist? Just after they bombed Pearl Harbor?
I mean, we had 9/11. Didn’t mean calling any middle eastern person a “raghead” was right.
There were Japanese that had nothing to do with pearl harbor.
I think studios should adopt WB's idea and just put a disclaimer.
More proof that liberals lack a sense of humor.
Get over it!
It's a ****ing cartoon!
