3) Even if the percentage of affluent blacks who can afford Gucci is small (as is the percentage of whites), most blacks are middle class and could certainly buy one at MACY's or JCPenney.

Conclusion: Blacks should not be presented as helpless, oppressed victims around whom the entire focus of political policy is centered. It's a lie, pushed by Democrats to obtain and maintain power.
I don’t want to be mean, but April 1st was a few weeks ago, please tell me this is some sort of parody post.

So you are anti data? Data completely backs up the OP’s assertion that blacks as a whole don’t need The government to rescue them and the majority are middle class or above.

You'll find yourself surrounded by affluent black people.

(Sorry, OP, I'm not picking on your original point, which I agree with. But I couldn't resist! )

14 people in a line in Northern, New Jersey isn’t data. I’m comfortably living an upper middle class lifestyle and also happen to be black. I also don’t believe that being black means your oppressed. But she’s taking an argument that has far more subtlety and turning it on its head. I don’t think a high percent of leftists or SJWs argue all blacks are oppressed. Even the ones that do don’t mean blacks are literally still in slavery, but argue that due to the societal situation and negative portrayal of black people historically and today. Black people are limited regardless of personal wealth in ways white Americans aren’t. Hence their oppressed.

While I see where people who state this idea come from, I don’t really subscribe to it. I believe it’s true but I place less importance on it. I believe and have encountered micro aggressions I just don’t think their any big as limiting as SJWs think they are and just shrug them of and continue about my day. Sure some people generally assume things of me just by being my skin color. I had an experience a few weeks ago that was hilarious in its absurdity, that is almost without a doubt race related, if not age and gender related as well. But you know what it happens. I don’t think I’m oppressed because it happens I just find it silly.

You are obviously quite aware that anti-semitism is a big problem. Yet Jewish people are still relatively successful

But some black people at the Gucci store tells you that racism against blacks is no longer a problem.

Carry on. Whatever makes you feel like your own bigotry is no big deal.

This succinctly describes my issue with some of Rachel’s posts. Jewish folks are even wealthier than Whites, Blacks and Hispanics as well as a significant proportion of the various Asian communities. Yet still suffer from discrimination. Indians who are the wealthiest group in America. Still have a character like Apu being one of the most popular Indian characters on TV. Also I have no problem with Apu, and racial humor. But he’s a perfect example of wealth not enhancing your societal portrayal.

What they don't get about "status symbols":

Status symbols are tokens that are supposed to represent the level of SUCCESS a person has achieved in their life. In their chosen (legitimate) occupation, their entrepreneurial endeavors, in starting a successful company and seeing it through to fruition, etc.

If someone just possesses the token, but not the success, it is a completely empty "symbol".

Poor people giving money to already extremely rich handbag designers and millionaire sport stars that just lend their name to tennis shoes and apparel.

Class cannot be bought.
