This is nothing new to anyone who has actually followed the science all along. Masks are nothing but theater making people feel safe. Everyone take off your bacteria trap and refuse to wear them. There is more evidence mask wearing is harming those people more than it helped with anything.

This study is even on the CDC and NIH's website. Why are those idiots not telling people this? Oh cause they would have to admit they have been wrong the entire time.

Yeah....that is not a peer reviewed study. It is a hypothesis published in Medical Hypothesis. And it's ridden with typos.

"The purpose of Medical Hypotheses is to publish interesting theoretical papers. The journal will consider radical, speculative and non-mainstream scientific ideas provided they are coherently expressed."

Oh, this articles making it's way among the mask haters. Saw it posted yesterday on another forum I visit and some good people there thoroughly debunked most of it.

Sometimes I think pro-mask people are planting articles/“studies” as bad as these to see if the anti-maskers will bite.

Get a freshman in high school to merely scan it and they could debunk it.

Liberals are saying now that masks are going to be permanent. We need more of these studies and more opposition to stop endless pandemics.

We just had the most incredibly tame flu season in history due to wearing masks.

What is this dumb idea that masks don't work? It worked so well it literally broke the record.

Quote:

This year's flu season was virtually nonexistent.

According to Rachel Baker, who studies public health and infectious disease at Princeton University's High Meadows Environmental Institute, this year's flu season was "strikingly different," with nearly no flu in the Northern Hemisphere during the winter of 2020-21. Nor was there much of a flu season in the Southern Hemisphere, according to Ian Barr, deputy director of the World Health Organization's (WHO's) Centre for Reference and Research on Influenza at the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity.

According to CDC, the hospitalization rate for the 2020-21 flu season in America was just 0.7 per 100,000 people—the lowest since the agency started tracking flu data in 2005. In fact, over the course of the last flu season, there was just one pediatric flu death—compared to 196 in the 2019-20 flu season.

About as convincing as the Nigerian prince emails. But plenty of people fell for those.

Masks are powerful placebos. They are useful for politicians to say they are "doing something"

They make some people feel good enough to go out and do things which politicians obviously know is necessary.

Obviously anyone with a brain would realize that they aren't able to stop viral transmission (it's printed on the box for crying out loud), but we all know that many people don't think logically and just do what they're told.

I skimmed and thought it looked like an 8th grader had typed it out... yikes. This is not a peer-reviewed study... or a study at all, it looks like.
