However I’m torn. Should Trump or Ron DeSantis be the next President? I’m inclined to support Trump again, but perhaps DeSantis has more crossover appeal.

Who would you rather have?
As a Floridian, I'd rather see Ron DeSantis as our governor for 4 more years and if he's inclined, to run for president in 2028.

I'd be happy to see Trump run for and win the presidency in 2024, but in reality I'm not sure he could survive the continuous organized assaults and attempts to stomp the man out of existence by the left wing democrat thugs, and their fawning buddies, Big Tech and the main stream news media. Based on their history of malfeasance and mistreatment of Trump, IMO they would continue to do anything it took to cancel him.

I'm not sure right now who in the GOP that leaves to run the gauntlet of democrat/left wing attacks, their voting sleight of hand tricks, to actually get a run at the presidency,

I would be ok with one being President and the other being the VP. How about that?

Desantis reminds me a lot of Trump. He stands up for what he believes and doesn't put up with crap. I like that. We need a strong non-puppet confident president again that can get this country back on track. MAGA!
I could be way off base here, but I'm wondering how well Trump and DeSantis might get along as president and vice president. I'm thinking they might clash as they are both strong willed alpha males wanting to be in charge. As much as DeSantis' dem detractors claim he is a Trump puppet , DeSantis is his own man used to leading and making decisions as he sees best.

I guess time will tell.

But he's not the annoying narcissist and self-promoter that Trump was and that's a good thing.

From my relatively short time of observing DeSantis, I think he can work in a bipartisan manner and that is what we need. Of course he'd get a lot of push back from the far left progressives but that is to be expected and I think he is up for the challenge.
This is exactly how I feel too. I completely support Trump on his policies, but I couldn't stand his megalomania. If he had governed exactly as he had, but kept off Twitter, maybe he'd be president right now. I would take him over Biden or Harris any day of the week. But from what I know of him so far, I'd rather have DeSantis.

You're going to have that with any candidate. If they opposed the masks and lockdowns they are going to get portrayed by the media in a negative light, that is unless the left keeps trying forever masking and tries to keep this mask and lockdown stuff going into 2022 and longer... people will get fed up with it.

Make no mistake though they are going to make anti-lockdown policy decisions the highlight of future elections and hammer on that issue hard. They don't really play fair and the media is in their pocket.

Maybe pick one that wasn't in politics during the pandemic, like Scott Walker of Wisconsin who would make a decent president. Honestly I wouldn't pick a reefer madness candidate like Kristi Noem... you've automatically driven away some moderates and libertarians with a pick like that. She is a woman though so she'd likely get those votes back and then some just for that. She may be the party's best shot now that I think about it, but voters need to be mindful of the fact she probably won't just go leaving the states alone when it comes to their marijuana laws. Her opposition is rather strong.

I'd have more confidence if I thought the majority of americans were against masks but even going by past polls in this forum it doesn't seem that way... it seems like the anti-maskers might be a loud minority...

I'd definitely vote Desantis if Trump decided not to run. I think Trump will run though. Just think how great it would be to have him back in the White House. lol He deservces it. I don't think how he was treated by the left would affect his decision. He's strong and confident and won't let them mess with him. Nothing about him is a wimp.

Nope, he's weak and insecure. But that's why he tries so hard to project a false image of strength and confidence, and takes such offense at any fact that reveals this false image for what it is.

Well said. We have done that in the past 2 elections and look what it has got us into.

We had a crazy power hungry, arrogant woman, a crazy person who rails and rants and took everything personally and could not keep good advisors around and an elderly man with advancing dementia. This is what we have had in the past two elections.

Somehow I don't see that changing very much in 2024, though both Trump and Biden will be old and senile by then.
