If you got Covid-19 sometime in the last year or so, and then recovered from it, The vaccine will do you no particular good, because you are already immune, according to a recent study by the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. And you cannot give the virus to anyone else, even if they have had neither the vaccine nor the Covid virus itself.

This brings up questions about people who say you cannot enter their establishment unless you have had the vaccine, such as universities across the country.

If a student has had Covid months ago and has recovered, why do they need to get the vaccine shot before they go to school at the university or college?

No vaccine needed for those who’ve had COVID-19, Cleveland Clinic study says

CLEVELAND (WJW) — The Cleveland Clinic recently studied the effectiveness of the COVID-19 vaccination among people who caught the virus and those who haven’t.

The study finds that anyone who previously tested positive for a SARS-CoV-2 infection did not get additional benefits from the vaccine, which suggests the vaccines should be prioritized to people who haven’t gotten the infection. The clinic says this research provides insight into how the immune system protects the body once a COVID-19 infection is confirmed.

During the study that was conducted on 52,238 employees in the Cleveland Clinic, the clinic says “not a single incidence of SARS-CoV-2 infection was observed in previously infected participants with or
without vaccination.”

The Cleveland Clinic tells FOX 8, “We don’t know how long the immune system will protect against reinfection or protect against variants. We still recommend those eligible receive the vaccine.”
That's why.

This of course was not an "anti-vax" article as it still suggests that even though they didn't have a single case out of the 55K people studied of another occurrence they should still get the vaccine because they just "don't know" how long the immunity will last.

Here is a thought. Before we start to say that people that had COVID should get the vaccine..because we just don't know. How about using the science and studies to determine if they need it or how long the immunity lasts?

What if it turns out that this immunity lasts for 2 years? 5 years? If someone had COVID and wants to get the vaccine wouldn't it really be just another "security blanket" in that case?

What if we find out it lasts for only a year, that again would be valuable information...based on science which apparently everyone seems to want.

Of course it will take time to make these determinations. And until then medicine being as conservative as it is will tend to make recommendations more on the side of caution.

New T cell/longer term immunity testing will be very helpful, and IMO eventually showing lasting immunity in those recovered, similar to those vaccinated.

If everyone who has had covid gets the vaccine then no one will ever be able to say for sure how long natural immunity lasts since it will have been tainted. The study pools will not exist.

Its funny when something is in conflict with the narrative "everyone must be vaccinated", its "we just dont know enough yet"
but when promoting the narrative, all potential negatives are waved away or dismissed

Right, but it's a standardized dose so they are better able to measure it and figure out whether a booster shot is needed. With the normal immune response, it's more random.

But they are measuring immunity from those that caught it and using it as a standard for the vaccine.
