When 31-year-old Londre Sylvester left Cook County Jail at just before 9 p.m. on Saturday night, gunmen got out of two parked cars and shot him 64 times
Got him as he walked out of the jail.
Oh, he was being released on ankle bracelet for a felon with a gun, one can only guess how many people he's shot over the years.
I was just surprised at the volume of firepower and doing it right outside the jail.
The only surprising thing here is they didn't kill a bunch of innocent bystanders for a change. Its good to see no 7 year old were killed during this.....for a change.
But Chicago has one of the most strictest and restrictive gun laws.
Hardly.
It is unlawful to legally buy a firearm in the city. Sylvester was arrested in 2020 after someone reported seeing a gun in his car in 2020. There appears to have been a prior felony conviction which prevented him from possessing a firearm.
ATF has been in Chicago for years and focuses on tracing recovered guns. The city recovered nearly 12,000 firearms last year. Most were originally legally bought from a handful of dealers in suburban Chicago and nearby Gary, Indiana. Most were reported missing, lost or stolen.
It’s all about straw purchasers which tend to be females. Rinse/ repeat.
There are more firearms than people in the US. The horse has long left the barn.
This rapper was targeted likely because he was an informant, not too different than how the mob was known to take care of business. This might have been aided by some force within the system for reasons known to them. Who knows, the woman who posted his bond and accompanied him may have been in on it.
There are cameras. No question, the cars used were stolen and the shooters identities disguised.
Good luck solving this.

The shooters appear to have been better than average shots. Maybe they were police officers.
( I am currently binging on The Shield ( 2002-8) on HULU and may be biased).
Then again, people don’t tend to hang out in front of Cook County Jail, as they do in parks, on streets etc.

Not killed, but hit...
Two women were also injured in the ambush – a 60-year old woman who’d just posted Sylvester’s bond and a 35-year-old woman who worked at the jail, CWBChicago said.
...
Sylvester and the 60-year-old woman were walking to a waiting car Saturday when they were ambushed, CWBChicago said. He was hit in the face and chest and the woman was struck in her knee. The other woman was grazed by a bullet, the report said.

Nothing surprises me around here any more.
The longer I can put off having to back into the downtown office, the better.

You overestimate police marksmanship. It's better than your average street hood's, but not by much. CPD's continuing firearms training is virtually non-existent.

I would imagine he pissed off someone over the years.
