You can only send troops back if they had been there before. Were the marines involved removed from Afghanistan and then returned? Lets see the reference.
I researched this fairly in depth, took about 30 seconds with google.....

The Marines on that MEU were the first conventional troops to land in Afghanistan, tasked with securing Camp Rhino, a small airfield just south of Kandahar, Afghanistan, where more U.S. troops flew in as the invasion force was gathered then sent into the nation.
This is a pretty silly semantics discussion which really has no point. We reduced the US troops in Afghanistan over a period of years and then had to augment the troops to carry out the withdrawal. Simple as that.
Yes, we had to send troop back in, no augmentation of the troops, they were sent back in, even by your own link, they were sent back in.
Yea, because they always put the best of infantry, truck drivers, and company clerks in "special jobs." In the Aviation world, we always put our "best" in the tool room so they could not touch a helicopter and out of everyone's way. Can you make the connection?
Of course you do. Didn't you say you were 4 or 5 years the elder of ole' sleepy joe?
I got pretty much what I wanted through the clerical channels. and one of the fun things I used to do was drive the big wrecker though I was not really qualified for it. They made me sort of an assistant driver to get it to sites where a real driver would do the hookup.
And you just displayed how little you know about how the military actually works. Unless you have real experience in the headquarters company of a division you have no idea how it works.
And yes I am a few year older than Biden or Trump.

Which would absolutely 100% not happen these days, period end of story. Yea, my dad in the Korean was started out in the infantry, he became a cook so he would never go hungry.

LOL, I retired in 2009 with 21 years and 7 days. No need to tell me how little I know, when you say that 65 years ago, the military has changed very little.

Unlikely. The previous use of that organization in Afghanistan was 20 years ago. Very few if any would have made both affairs. And there were other units involved who were not in the 20 year ago operation.

Your own link, you know the one that you put into your post, 100% disagrees with you.
Not what you said:

They were there when they started and they were there when it ended, that's what you asked for and you got it. Don't care if you believe it or not, the facts are there for your reading enjoyment.
He was actually very well spoken and a linguist. He was an elite, one of the few that actually earn the right to wear a green beret. I've been told he was quite a bada$$. Even before becoming a GB.
The military from 65 years ago is not today's military. lol!
Things change. Even when a friend of mine who served 30 says the military is different of yesterday is not the military of today...one should probably listen to that lol!
The use of the term "states" for nations is not an issue of military definition. I was military intelligence for a quarter of a century--studying other nations was my particular job--and we used the term "state" for "nation" much of the time, especially while I was attending the National Intelligence University.
