I don't have to wonder which is more likely, I lived it back when we made things that lasted. We would purchase moderately priced appliances, shoes and clothes that lasted.
We cannot compete when Communist governments steal our intellectual property, and pirate our patents, to build counterfeit American products, and sell them for pennies on the dollar using slave labor. Then to make it worse, our own government slaps on new taxes, and thousands of new regulations on our manufacturing industry every year, which further drives up our costs at home. Then out companies outsource what they cannot make at home anymore, costing jobs at home, and further reducing our nation's wealth.
As soon as China runs out of wealthy capitalist nations to buy their junk, they too will devolve into Venezuela and Cuba. Socialism does not work once they run out of other peoples wealth.
China abandoned Communism long ago. Deng Xioaping was the capitalistic "communist" that kept saving China from Mao's socialistic programs. After becoming leader of China, Deng Xioaping turned China into a hyper-capitalistic state.
China is Communist in name only. At present, they're closest copy to Nazi Germany since Nazi Germany itself. They lean heavily on a highly constrained and brutally controlled capitalist market. Greed, ambition and independent initiative are allowed to drive their economy. The government sends tendrils of control deeply into companies and businesses. The CCP constantly preaches the "gospel" of China's destiny to retake it's place as the Middle Kingdom due to the perceived ethnic superiority of the Han Chinese people. It's just different buzzwords for the same concept applied to the Chinese: Master Race, etc. There is an ongoing process of ethnic and cultural cleansing. The Han Chinese consider it their destiny and right to dominate all other nations under Heaven.
Still, it is quite interesting how effortless the transition from Communism to Nazism was for them. Not much needed to change. Not really. The idea that these ideologies are polar opposites is quote obviously massively flawed.

I believe you are correct in this. There is a vlog on youtube of an American and South African who have lived in China for many years. Chinese wives, children etc.. who have moved back to the west because they were speaking the truth about a brutal government and that government went after them. Communism in name only, benefits to its people is minimal, less than the west. I'll add that the west financed it and continues to finance it.
I have no idea what "guaranteed income" you are even talking about.
The northern European countries are doing just fine, without "turning into Cuba."
They have enough of intelligent people to figure out what works for their nations and what does not in this respect.
I'm not being dramatic. Haven't you been paying attention to Democrats the last five or so years?
So even more expensive lies, Just like Obama Care but worse. Just like the "green new deal", a more expensive version of Obama's "green job Initiative and Shovel ready jobs", and its promise to retrain Americans. A familiar lie that Democrats follow like Lemmings
Obamacare was no more "socialized medicine" than any other health care system that relies on private insurance.
Capitalism vs our free market, free enterprise system

The only problem I have with your above statement is, using the word "capitalism". We should always refer to the system our founders envisioned as a free market, free enterprise system . . the emphasis being the word "free" which the Democrat Party Leadership detests with a passion.
The fact is, Karl Marx popularized “capitalist” and “capitalist mode of production” to attack a free market, free enterprise system, without having to reference what he really was attacking which was “freedom”.
I have yet to find one reference where our founders used the word “capitalism” when framing our Constitution.
Let us never forget the words of Thomas Jefferson’s First Annual Message to Congress:
”Agriculture, manufactures, commerce, and navigation, the four pillars of our prosperity, are the most thriving when left most free to individual enterprise.”
