This...I do agree with this...there are blue cities and red rural areas, for the most part.

Urban vs rural interests will squabble worse than ever within the states with rural interests most often losing.

It is sad people that some people want a civil war because some other people think differently than themselves.
That is what America is suppose to be all about. People being free to live and believe as they want, because they are free.

We are the United States of America. Only an unpatriotic person would want that to end.

The emphasis on the “greater good” over personal liberties and self reliance is found in both supporters of lockdowns and socialism. For this reason we find the same people crying out for socialist programs and freebies to be the same people demanding we all surrender our rights to protect them from the rona. This is why every lockdown state is a blue state and every open state is a red state. This is why the attitudes towards the virus are defined by your political views and loyalties. If you support strict rona restrictions then odds are yes you are a socialist.

Michigan’s extreme uber lockdowns are evidence of the states left wing status. While it has been a swing state I would imagine it bluer than ever since thousands have fled Michigan to escape their crazy governors proclamations locking down her citizens. So the lockdowns have made the state even bluer.

Well, Civil War II came and went. The current USA split into two new countries: United States of True America (USTA), bringing back the America that once was, and Sorosfaucistan (SFS), named after the founding sponsors. The nature of each country and the quality of life there are self-explanatory.

So... where would each state go? Let's discuss! Post your own ideas as well. Have fun.

I like this thread. As someone who's read a decent amount of history, and if you like Wargame Simulations (as an adjunct to Dungeons to Dragons), we used to talk about this kind of stuff all the time.

So many good points upthread, but especially "there are no red/blue states, only cities" - and not only that. There are no red/blue cities, only red/blue people.

Its silly to think it would fracture in neat existing state lines. More likely dense urban blue islands in a sea of red. And don't think for a second that one place that started one color would STAY that way. I remind you Hitler + Stalin started out as buds invading Poland, and Mussolini thought he was joining the winning team. 2 of those 3 would be dead within 5 years, and Stalin flipped sides. My point is, even the 'charismatic leader' can be deposed or replaced rapidly. (sometimes by their own people - Mussolini)

I dont want to end up in a land-locked lame territory - I see the number Andrew Jackson did on the America Indians/Native Americas. Imagine you woke up in Kazakhstan or Botswana? No way buddy, the battle for control of the Port of Los Angeles/Long Beach would rage for a decade, because all the Treasures of Asia come through there. It'd be like a game of Othello/Reversi with some hotly contested areas.

Oh, and lots of lots of spies! People with fake vaccine records being dropped by parachute over Berkeley and Sacramento under the cover of darkness! Infiltrate! Blue 'religious Missionaries' would travel to Florida, to hand out pamplets. Sometimes, the Missionarys would kidnapp/deProgram their targets.

Las Vegas would declare themselves electively neutral, like Switzerland (we dont care if you're red or blue, we want you to be green. Give us your green, in exchange for swimming pools and slot machines).

Anyways, this thread is all hypothetical in good fun. In the modern age, we can all just laugh about it - because the number one requirement for Fascism: everybody must not have a sense of humor.

Geez, the USTD sure did get stuck with a couple of pretty bland capital cities.

I didn't map all this out, but if we were to ever split into two or more countries, what is absolutely vital is that each country must have access to an Atlantic and/or a Pacific port. (The Gulf of Mexico and the St. Lawrence Seaway could substitute for an Atlantic port.) It's not vital to have both, because the Panama Canal can provide access to either side. But it would certainly be preferable to have both.

In most CW2 scenarios that I've seen, the three West Coast states become part of the new Blue country. (Or, maybe, one of several new countries all on its own.) This is worrisome for the Red country, because shipping from Asia would have to transit the Canal before docking, presumably at Houston or New Orleans -- thus increasing costs. To address this issue, I'd like to see a narrow corridor encompassing Interstate 8 from San Diego to Arizona (presuming that Arizona is part of a Red country) remain part of the Red country. That way, trade from Asia could use the Port of San Diego and then the east-west railroad and interstate highway to access the Red country. This would also enable the Red navy to maintain a presence in the Pacific.

If national boundaries were to be redrawn on the basis of counties, instead of states, then San Diego and Imperial counties would be the ones to provide the Red corridor.

The Mexican cartel would take over Texas if the federal government didn't help.

You know the red counties aren’t bound by their imaginary state borders. They’ll join other like states.

Then move to Oklahoma to one of the counties that were so far right conservative that they voted against both legalized medical marijuana and extended Medicaid as offered by ObamaCare. But some of them are so sparsely populated that there is no Wal-Mart.

I think decreased access to Asian manufacturing would be a good thing. They'd be forced to increase their own manufacturing capacity to keep costs down. We should be doing this right now as a unified country. We we should have slowing ratcheting up tariffs on all imports of manufactured good.
