The city is like 83% vaccinated. Nothing like making a rule because you’re scared over 17% of people. This is also going to kill their tourism’

Back during the lockdowns when we visited family in NY and the NYC restaurants had no indoor dining or restrooms open, we simply crossed the Queens border, into Nassau County which were open. You can even just walk across a Queens street and be on LI.

NYC is not only Manhattan where you cannot easily get out of NYC. This mandate does not apply to the entire state. Should be interesting to see if the new Governor mandates this state wide.

Edit: I wonder if LI and Westchester restaurants are seeing an increase in business because of NYC's mandate?

Apparently, even fast food places are under this restriction. Places even a 14 year old might go.
And the people are not rising up in resistance?

As I have correctly pointed out, NYC's one size fits all __ No Vax, No Service __ is not only absurd, but ignores the science, and actually encourages the fully vaccinated, who are symptom free, but infected with the virus, to go out and enjoy public accommodations and freely spread the virus while those who are virus free are discriminated against by government and prohibited from going about their daily activities.

I never thought I would live to see the day when NYC's residents would turn into sheeple and allow a certified lunatic destroy their city and treat them like school aged children.

BTW, did you read ‘This Ends The Debate’ – Israeli Study Shows Natural Immunity 13x More Effective Than Vaccines At Stopping Delta

The new analysis relies on the database of Maccabi Healthcare Services, which enrols about 2.5 million Israelis. The study, led by Tal Patalon and Sivan Gazit at KSM, the system’s research and innovation arm, found in two analyses that people who were vaccinated in January and February were, in June, July, and the first half of August, six to 13 times more likely to get infected than unvaccinated people who were previously infected with the coronavirus.

The information at the link goes on point out that in one analysis, comparing more than 32,000 people in the health system, "the risk of developing symptomatic COVID-19 was 27 times higher among the vaccinated, and the risk of hospitalization was eight times higher."

This, of course, confirms that NYC's one size fits all __ No Vax, No Service __ is not only absurd, but ignores the science!

I expect she is going to make it a statewide mandate.

I would argue it is somewhat classist but is not racist. It is classist in the sense that well to do people can simply leave the city to escape the mandate, while the impoverished residents of the city have difficulty with the added costs of transportation in and out of the city.

And in so doing is going to ignore the science and that natural immunity is absolutely essential in achieving herd immunity.

BTW, did you see Natural infection vs vaccination: Which gives more protection?

“Nearly 40% of new COVID patients were vaccinated - compared to just 1% who had been infected previously”

“According to a report by Israel’s Channel 13, Health Ministry data on the wave of COVID outbreaks which began this May show that Israelis with immunity from natural infection were far less likely to become infected again in comparison to Israelis who only had immunity via vaccination.”

Default Latest science in fighting covid . . . antibodies essential in the fight!

.

Getting back to science and the importance of using antibodies created in those infected by Covid-19. see: Scientists identify natural SARS-CoV-2 super immunity against 23 variants

Jul 5 2021

"A team of international scientists has recently identified ultrapotent anti-severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) antibodies from convalescent donors.

The antibodies are capable of neutralizing a wide range of SARS-CoV-2 variants even at sub-nanomolar concentrations. In addition, the combinations of these antibodies reduce the risk of generating escape mutants in vitro. The study is published in the journal Science.

It is becoming clearer as each day passes that the antibody treatment, once urged by President Trump, is an essential tool in dealing with the Chinese Covid virus.

Somehow, these kinds of findings never make it to the front pages of the news. It's quite mysterious isn't it?
If it was the opposite, it would be plastered all over every media outlet.
