You do not go into a federal building with armed police and Secret Service agents to kill or hold someone hostage without extensive planning, weapons (horns on hat do not count), explosives, etc.
I seriously wonder if some who say this nonsense really believe it, or it just helps to fit a narrative to distract from the real domestic terrorism that leftists/anarchists are doing around the country.

1. It wasn't an insurrection. Many of the "rioters" were actually let into the building by acquiescent Capitol police. Only one person died from violence, shot by a Capitol police officer. The event lasted only a few hours and damage to the facility was minimal compared to your average George Floyd riot. In the months that followed, many of the media narratives about that day fell apart, from the guy carrying zip ties to the capitol police officer that supposedly died from being bashed with a fire extinguisher.
2. The Biden administration is f'ing things up so badly, and his approval ratings are dropping so precipitously, that it's providing immense political cover at the moment.
3. The never Trumpers got what they wanted, which was a Joe Biden presidency. What they are not getting is their party back. Old line Republicans have to accept that or get out of the way.

Republicans are still not willing to repudiate Trump’s implicit demand for absolute power outside of the Constitutional system. They are still in an appeasement mode trying to wait it out and hope the problem goes away. Well they’ve been running that strategy since the 2016 GOP primary and it hasn’t worked yet. Until they stop swallowing whatever wild undulating orders his aggrieved ego barfs out as their new marching orders in the never ending quest to overturn the people’s decision in 2020, they will continue to struggle with moving forward.
