You will have to adapt to rising costs. People have done it in the past. High inflation may be new to you but the US has gone through this before.

Officially inflation is at 5.5%. Let’s say people are reporting a 10% overall inflation rate - which is probably an exaggeration but ok. I do think almost anyone can adjust their budgets to handle that. There was extra money last year from stimulus, ppe and this year from enhanced child tax credits coming in to most family bank accounts. Wages have gone up. Extra employment is available. Doesn’t feel dire at the current level. Shocking yes, but not dire.
The continuing demand for high priced consumer goods and leisure activities is telling a difference story. Plenty are still able to afford the “luxuries”.
The inflation figurethe gov't reports does NOT include food or energy.....2 things EVERYBODY must consume.

Please check on how much these 2 categories have risen, and are projected to rise over the next 6 months, & then post again, and you can tell us how bogus the 5.5% "official" figure really is.

~50% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck, so they are getting pinched by real inflation (not the bogus gov't figure), especially by food & gas prices. As the inflation trend worsens, this will become a dire situation for ~1/2 of all Americans.

Where's your compassion for the less fortunate?

The left so love the poor that they endeavor to create more of them.

Shadowstats uses the 1980 and 1990 algorithms for showing inflation.

Using 1980 algorithm: 14%
Using 1990 algorithm: 9%

Over the years the Fed has revised their algorithms and each revision produces a lower inflation number.

Just about everything now......it is starting to feel real price-gougey when I buy stuff.

Dollar Tree has these great serving-line, disposable-gloves that are great for doing
lightweight things like checking fluids in a vehicle without getting your hands oily. Well, the pack
was 100-count......but now it appears to be well less than 40, but the packaging still lists 100-count.

Those on the welfare train are getting a 25% increase in their food stamps. Not so for all the working class poor or middle class families who are just making it. They have to pay more or eat less.

My first mortgage carried a 16.5% rate.

The P&I payment on that property would be less at current rates than it was nearly 40 years ago, despite it would cost 4 X as much, today.

Higher than recent years, but hardly “insane”.
That is false reporting. I went into a grocery store and many items are 33% more to buy. If it was $4 , it is now $6.

Some things are double the cost of what it used to be.
