Anybody else besides me remember this from your childhood?

I also remember a video where the lyrics went "Divide a meter by a centimeter, you'll find that there are ten, divide a meter by a hundred, you get a hundred centimeters then."

Nope. Not happening. Americans are to dumb. 96% of people with a degree can’t spell. You want people to learn metric? Haha

I would have to say that having been born and raised in St. Louis, I wouldn't have a problem with switching from Imperial to metric for calculating distances.....

.....cuz we go by how long it takes to get there. "How far away is Columbia?" "Oh, it's about a two hour drive."

I still do this. Apparently, it drives others around me nuts.

That’s just one example of thousands.

I absolutely refuse to change.

But I’m surprised that leftists haven’t made this a major political issue yet? Surely, this could be another way to divide us? Probably not too many Trump supporters want the metric system.

I'm a conservative-leaning immigrant, and I absolutely despise the Imperial system with its inch, foot, yard, and mile, pound, ounce, gallon, quart, pint, cup, tablespoon, teaspoon, fluid ounce. In the Metric system you have meters and gram. That's it.

On a side note, I do think Fahrenheit is more accurate than Celsius.

In medicine and science, we have been converted decades ago.

In 73, GM said they were going all metric. All new development after 73 was metric only, but existing parts were unchanged. In 1972, GM specd 900+ fan belts! In 74, it was down to less than 100 belts. Similarly, efficiency in wire sizes alone saved GM $1.6 million a year!
Ford and Chrysler transferred in 74 and 73 respectively.

Cat did the same in 71. They went from 74 sheet and plate steel sizes to 34, and over 500 flat bad sizes to less than 200. That saved 54% of their steel costs.
John Deere did the same in 78 and saved $380,000 a year in steel.

Anyone who has worked on cars or farm equipment under 70 can transfer to metric easily.

Do you realize the irony of your statement? You're the one who stepped out and tried to make it political.

Back on topic, yes, I think we'll go metric soon. I'm seeing more and more things that are metric only. Consumer items. Recipes online, and grocery store items. GPS maps sometimes have only metric.

96%? you already did the test. You did that in metric measurement?

If We are so dumb why are We the only country that has created the best economy in world's history, best tech and the most lethal military and weapons in mankind? All that from a nation full of dumb people. What does that makes the rest of the world? You keep the metric and pretend you are smarter than the U.S and putting the flag on the moon. Is not our fault that they convinced you that feet, inches and pound is now a problem.

It's not going to happen in a million years. We had our chance to do it a long time ago.
