Sirhan Sirhan is still in prison. Governor Newson said no to his pardon request.

I don't know if there was a political aspect to the tragedy. this guy was far less connected to any political stance than the SC gunman who shot up the people in the church, for instance.

I consider the man clearly insane and an emotional incident appears to have set off his murderous driving. the murder floggers on this forum can try to turn this into a racial incident but I think it does not have anything on which to make a national or local conclusion. A black man in a murderous rage from all indications tried to and did kill people and he intended to kill whites. That's about it.

It does not appear that he was set off by the teachings of any political or religious group. This is just not an 'Aha!' moment as to America's racial divide but much more connected to mental health.

This dude is absolutely nuts. Sad for him and his victims that will never see any remorse from him. Lose lose situation and it's a shame he didn't get the help he so clearly needed before he ruined all of those people's lives.

Here is the problem. Not only is he not competent enough to defend himself, he is not even fit to be in the courtroom while the trial takes place. Which is why the judge has removed him from the courtroom. Even though the case against him is extremely strong, this amounts to nothing more than a kangaroo court. You can't have a fair trial without the defendant present, and without even any legal representation in the court. That is a total one sided trial. The judge might as well just dispense with the trial, and go right to the sentencing phase. It would be just as fair as this.

I don't believe this is the type of trial the Founding Fathers had in mind when they wrote the Six Amendment. Not only is this trial clearly unconstitutional, but it violates the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights which requires that a defendant shall be entitled to be tried in his presence and to be able to defend himself in person (which he is not being allowed to do) or through legal assistance of his own choosing or assigned to him (which is also not happening).

The judge has repeatedly said that she wants him in the courtroom. Which I'm sure she does, because she knows that if he is not present he will not get a fair trial, and will likely win a new trial on appeal. The judge is bungeling this trial big time.

It's political because Biden and others have turned other mass killings like the Asian spa shootings into "White Supremacy" caused by the republicans "rhetoric" when it wasn't they even threatened to fire for the Sheriff for not lying that it was.

Pointing this out and his absence of commentary on this is not us making it political, it's pointing out how others have picked and chosen similar events and made those political...but not this one.

Here's a billion articles about democrats blaming Trump for "xenophobia" when the spa shootings weren't even racially motivated.

They kicked him out but they still have him on a live feed from the next room.

They just have the ability to Mute him if he starts talking over everyone.

The sad thing about this, is that there are more individuals like him. Some have murderer their own family members.

There was a chance, but even Gov. Gavin Newson has his limits. If Newson won't let him out, he's not getting out.
