The Democrats need to drop the climate change issue for the following reasons:
1) We simply do not have economical alternatives to fossil fuels. Nuclear power is expensive, unpopular, and almost impossible to build because of NIMBYism. Wind and solar power are severely limited for obvious reasons: the sun doesn’t always shine and the wind doesn’t always blow. Anyone who thinks we can run everything on wind and solar should look at Germany. They have some of the highest electricity rates in Europe, and they are building new coal power plants because of the unreliability of wind and sunshine. No matter how cheap wind turbines and solar panels get, they will always be expensive to use because of the need for backup power plants and/or massive battery farms.
2) Global warming skeptics aren’t going to change their beliefs. That’s because humans don’t change their beliefs. That’s especially true when humans have a psychological, economical, or political investment in maintaining those beliefs. You simply can’t expect cattle ranchers and people who work in the fossil fuel industry to believe that AGW is real. Since it’s not possible to solve the global warming problem anyway, why lose votes by promising to solve it?
3) Due to our utterly corrupt political system, any policies meant to address global warming will hurt the poor and working classes the most. The rich write the rules. You can bet that taxes on fuel for private jets will be minimal or non-existent. The cost of meat, gasoline, electricity, and heating fuel will skyrocket, hurting low and middle income people the most.
Democrats need to drop the climate change issue, or they will continue to hemorrhage working class voters to the Republicans. It’s a losing issue.
That's an excellent post. But don't expect the democrats to 'drop' any of their issues, and don't expect them to compromise. It's not in their DNA to meet the other side half way, and they are more likely to double down on this issue than they are to admit it's not workable.
Climate change was chosen to control the economy and also to regress into the dark ages with no growth.
Biden brings in millions of illegals and we know they do get food assistance, heating vouchers, and housing and are bringing covid with them. So this is to expand socialism and the democrat vote. How does this help so called climate change?
It does not help Americans for Biden to do this. It is to expand the federal government. I am a conservative and I believe in giving power to the states. So much safer for each individual American to keep our rights .
Biden is at war with the red states.. what does that tell you? Mandates, overstepping on the rights of states to choose what is best for them. My Governor DeSantis is watching out for us daily. He wants to bring gas prices down, keep morale of the police officers up, stands up to the federal government overreach into our lives.
Climate change is just a big power play hoax to tax us, control what we can buy. Seems Biden has some special interests he invested in through his son Hunter to get the Electric vehicle on the road. So he creates high gas prices saying it is bad for the environment. Well it take coal plants to generate electricity and our power grid is weak.
So we go back to solar and wind which is more primitive than gas engines that have been perfected to give good gas mileage. Dark ages Biden is not a progressive at all. He wants us to degrow our economy and take us back to the stone ages.
There is no way a man can control climate. We can have fortified houses built for hurricanes, plow the roads in snow storms and deal with what happens and it has been happening for centuries. Before the gas driven car we always had natural occurring weather , so stop with the hoax for the purpose of climate change to control us.
With the technologic and industrial Leviathan we have constructed since the industrial revolution... yes it is. Very difficult. Next to impossible, actually. Unless you are interested in depopulation of about 99% and a pre-industrial revolution agrarian-artisan lifestyle. Or even before that. Perhaps you'd be interested in a hunter-gatherer lifestyle?
Have you ever researched the industrial process to make your solar panels? If you say no to "fossil fuel," you also say no to solar panels and just about everything we use in modern society. Where do you think plastics come from? Does it grow on trees?
They're going to make plastic from whatever hemp they don't smoke.
Climate change is a religion. Good luck shaking them of that. A lot of them would rather die than contribute more pollution to this planet, yet they keep polluting like the rest of us. Just look at all those coal powered Tesla's lefties have been driving around... I thought we moved on from using coal for transportation like a century ago? That's why progressives should really be called regressives. They are trying to take our country and the human species backward.
Actually OP everyone needs to care about climate change, because it affects the whole world. Look at the before and after photos of the glaciers at Glacier National Park in Montana, look at how warm summers are becoming each year, how many more days we have of drought and wildfires in the PNW. This cannot be ignored.
Right now, up near Hudson Bay the polar bears are waiting for the ice to form so they can go hunt seals , guess what they haven't eaten since July and scientists are saying climate change is indeed affecting the water turning to ice and the polar bears having to wait longer to hunt.
Just because something doesn't seem to affect you personally, doesn't mean you should dismiss it.
What you know of the climate in limited to your experience and the experience of people that have lived in the past 200 years.
Before that, we knew less of the world and we had no way to collect the data that we now claim indicates warming.
The Little Ice Age ended just as glass thermometers were coming into common use, so we know the Earth's surface has been warming since the instrumental record began, but we don't know how much it cooled in the centuries before it started warming.
You can look around and find all sorts of things happening that confirm warming to you because you already believe it exists, but that's not the same as a real instrumental record going back 1,000 years or more to give a fuller picture.
Over many centuries, the world has both warmed and cooled without a significant change in CO2 levels.
In fact, it appears from the fossil data that as the surface of our planet has warmed and cooled, CO2 has mostly just been along for the ride.
They talk about climate change and how we are so bad …but then China is one of the biggest polluters and very little is done. Why aren’t the biggest polluters forced to make real changes?

Fact is the US has already drastically reduced it's emissions in the last few decades.
The idea that us tiny humans can do anything to change the climate is as much lunacy as the people still seeming to think their beloved vaccines are going to do anything.
Mother nature just smiles and goes about her day.
But depending on what the democrats do, I think this is one of the only issues I can get behind them on.
To me this seems to be where 90% of the tech breakthroughs are going to come from. And how awsome would it be if one day we really could power our home with solar shingles on the roof. That seems to have merit.
Yes, Democrats are already developing ways to tax the sun & wind.
