Well then it should also be perfectly fine for a Roman Catholic nun to wear a habit when teaching at a public school. I doubt there'd be outrage if she weren't allowed to. It's a double standard.
There is no double standard. A nun's habit is not allowed, and neither is a hijab.
I guess freedom of religion isn't a thing in Quebec?
There most definitely is, though there can be limitations on it just like there are everywhere.
These limitations may vary from one society or culture to another.
I was just reading an article over the weekend that was saying that 9 member countries in the EU have laws similar to or even stricter than Quebec's. And another half-dozen EU countries have similar laws in the works.
Switzerland (just outside the EU) also has some laws on religion that would make bien-pensant Americans and Anglo-Canadians scream with outrage.
There are even a number of Muslim countries believe it or not that restrict where and whn stuff like hijabs, burqas and other religious garb can be worn.

I just find it to be a slippery slope when government bans a person from wearing a religious garment or symbol. It seems like something that can be easily abused.
But I guess now that government is forcing people to wear face coverings and take vaccine injections, people don't really own their bodies anyway. All these fine details about 'rights' are interesting debates we had before Covid.

Are there any Roman Catholic/Church of England nuns still wearing full habit?
