So you just believe the news because it's the news ?

Florida hospital stats:

https://web.fha.org/External/WCPages...x?ArticleID=92

covid hospitalization on 12/27: 2075
covid hospitalization on 8/23 : 17,121

Now how is that possible that a lower number "sets the record" for hospitalization ?

Normal.
Well, *some* in Florida are hysterical. Plenty of people running around and driving alone with a useless cloth mask on.

....setting what records?....when you have the lowest death rate in the entire country...focusing on monoclonal antibodies makes the most sense

Your claim is too broad. If you read the article you have linked all it says is simple cloth masks are now no longer recommended. You need to get a triple-layer mask rather than just relying on your handkerchief. I've been wearing one of the former for a while now; they are cheap and readily available.

Democrats "Be Afraid of the latest round of Covid that has almost no fatalities".

The OP is one of the most consistently Lefist people here and only post doom and gloom if it's not his party.

MOD NOTE: The above link sends me to an MSN main page where the quoted article can not be found. Here is the link to the original article itself.
tell us about these hospitalization records. that does not appear to be the case from this source

https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/data/hos...tient-capacity

or even here, from the NYT

https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/...vid-cases.html

for the lazy, especially those who create or parrot information without checking...

Johns Hopkins weekly graph says:

5,700 Covid beds occupied; peak 17,000 mid August
620 ICU beds occupied; peak 3,600 mid August

and the NYT says:

mid-August hospitalizations were 194% of "last winter's peak"
current hospitalizations are 57% of "last winter's peak"

Typical misleading and meaningless spin we've learned to expect from the source.

Though there is an increase in covid " cases" ( meaning a positive test, nothing to do with symptoms), as there is in every other state- including the blue states with all those mandates, but hospitalizations here in have not risen due to covid cases as most of those sick with covid aren't sick enough to do much except treat symptomatically and stay home to get better. If there is any uptick at all in hospitalizations, it's due to the overwhelming number of transplants moving into FL, and visitors looking for healthcare, some for the covid they brought with them, perhaps, but mostly for other health conditions.

DeSantis was bringing attention to Biden's decision to buy all the available monoclonal antibody supplies, the better to control the supply and ration it out as he sees fit, based on "equity" or something equally irrelevant in the situation. Thus making the monoclonal antibody treatment option unavailable for those who might really need it, especially if they live in a "red" state.

To anyone with any reasoning ability at all, and despite the news media's determination to push the vaccines, vaccines, vaccines, boosters, boosters ad nauseum narrative, it's obvious that repeated vaccines will do little good, on the long haul, against a rapidly mutating RNA virus that will, sooner or later, become endemic in the populations. This makes treatments such as antiviral medication, monoclonal antibodies, measures to maintain ones own immune system in good shape to fight off infections they will inevitably get, vaccinated or not, a great idea. Especially as we build our herd immunity this way.

But looking at what's reported by the MSM, and pollyparroted by some of the folks who still buy into the fear, as I see it DeSantis is right on about the hysteria.,

Bingo

On the bright side, scared folks will likely stay home or out of Florida, however, AOC who’s one of the biggest fearmongers, is partying on down here, lol.
This LINK has some images showing how useless the masks are that everyone is wearing.

First of all, they cannot filter out the air we breath because the holes are too big for a tiny 0.065-0.125 micron virus, and inhaled and exhaled air bypasses the mask, by passing in along the top and sides. Secondly, they do not stay in place, and people are constantly fidgeting with them, or they give up all together and allow the mask to sit below the nose.

Here is Biden himself, readjusting his mask over ninety times in just one speech:

Many flock from mid western states , to the warmth of Florida. Remember , last month, here in MI ( a blue state since the OP wants to make it political) we had the record for daily cases, and now the snowbirds are leaving here and heading south. I bet all the southern warmer climate states will be seeing spikes in cases in the next month.
FL had a small bump last year, but their "peaks" have been both summers. Their largest peak, this summer with Delta. Then Omicron - they've exceeded summer (cases) levels since Christmas Day. Hospitalizations everywhere in the US have followed cases by 2-5 days. Thus, IF Omicron was going to flood hospitals in FL, then hospitalizations would be at least 5X what they are now.

When LWNJ's want to proclaim he's "only worried about monoclonal antibodies not vaccines and boosters", it's particularly disingenuous and anti-science.

All that's been said is "they may be less effective against Omicron". May be. Less effective. Well, we know a couple of things.

1. The vaccines ARE less effective than we thought.
2. Omicron is NOT the only variant circulating. So, if a doctor looks at a patient and says "you've got Delta" because for example they've lost their sense of smell (not really happening with Omicron), then the monoclonals do work and the doctor's diagnosis (science!) should rule.
3. FL administered 327,000 doses last week - 197,000 of which were booster doses. . http://ww11.doh.state.fl.us/comm/_pa...ata_latest.pdf
