That's why I am less and less convinced that democracy as a form of a government is remotely more superior to autocracy.
I think "democracy" is highly flawed and not a legitimate form of government. However, autocracy is completely flawed and cant possibly ever be a valid form of government (unless we are all divided into nations of one, then autocracy is the correct form of government).
And this is what it all comes down to. Countries and peoples of the world are having to make a stand on whom they align with and there isn't going to be any do overs. If India wants to tie their fate to Russia, fine. If people like you want to, fine. Just as many aligned with Russia 60 years ago. Aligning with Russia brought such great prosperity to Cuba and Venezuela.
Maybe this will inspire the US to become self-sufficient again and then China can sell their cargo ships full of crap to Russia and India can provide their IT services to Russia.

Tough choice I'd say.
On one hand - corrupt authoritarian Putin's Russia, on another one - corrupt Nationalist state of Ukraine, prompted by NATO against Russia.

Western democracy is highly flawed, yes, but that is only one of many forms of democracy, which people in the West like to forget. They have hijacked the word democracy as if theirs were the only type.

As opposed to Putin who made himself president for life and has anyone that speaks up immediately arrested and facing 15 years in prison.

People want to move to the US, Canada, Europe etc. because there are jobs and people earn more. And because everyone there speaks English. People don't emigrate to the US because of democracy. US democracy is a joke.

Thinking about it. Although the fact that my children grew up in this country and speak primarily in English, and going there would mean total break up of all the friendships that me and them acquired here... Well, moving around when you're older, is not as easy as when you're 20. But I am thinking about it more and more these days. USA of 2020 is not the same country I came to 30 years ago.
