The kids who were there who have spoken out didn't think it was light-hearted.
They said they felt pressured by the gov to take their masks off. One of them was motioned off to the side and told if he didn't want to take his mask off he should stand to the side and not behind DeSantis.
An event that should have been a fun getaway from school for the kids turned into a stressful event due to petty politics from the governor. Not a good look for DeSantis.
This. There was definitely an admonishment in there. All he had to say was “hey, you don’t have to wear your mask if you don’t want.” But he was clearing angry and bothered at the sight of the young people in their masks.
Well, I am "sorry/not sorry", but it would irritate me, too!
If I see someone in the supermarket wearing a mask, I will give them the benefit of the doubt that s/he has some kind of condition that causes them to be extra careful, but to see a bunch of kids wearing mostly useless masks outside and giving into the Biden administration/CDC propaganda -- well, yes, it DOES bother me. (Just like it bothers me that so many kids have had their education sorely compromised, and it bothers me that so many people lost their jobs, and the vaccine mandates have angered me, etc., etc., etc.)

Is it though? DeSantis is lashing out at children. People are scared that their children will be forever scarred because they had to wear masks. That’s fearmongering.
Name one time when DeSantis "lashed out" at children.
He’s popular with the Venezuelans and older republicans, but he is burning bridges as he tightens the freedoms for others. This no Gay thing - not sure Miami is happy with that. And now the abortion, not my home town. Well I’m from MBeach.
The lies you guys come up with are amazing and impressive. He's not taking freedoms away from anyone; it's exactly the opposite.
