I see some practical advantages to keeping it at "daylight time" but "standard time" is the "real time." We should go back to that and leave it alone.

Well, in northern Michigan it doesn't get dark till 10 pm in the summer. What about the conservation issue here in the southwest that I mentioned? Isn't that more important?

Goes along with the bizarre aversion to the metric system. Rest of the world be damned.

I'd rather keep standard time than daylight savings, but I don't care that much.

This happened in 1973, too. The masses hated it.

I do not see how something like this is really that big a deal either way.
The vast majority of the complaining is due to night time conditions at 4 pm in the winter. This is what is driving all the motivation to change to DST permanently. If schools don't like the darker morning, start later. They need to start later anyways, every study shows a tired kid doesn't learn when they are forced to school so early

And? Except for the weekends, I am either working or getting ready for work at 8:30am. Daylight is not particularly useful at that time of the day.

There will be kids waiting for the bus in the dark either way. Right now with the DST it is dark when kids get on the bus, but it will be light before school is out for summer. Just before DST it was light but it will be dark again on Standard time in the fall.

I think the masses hate changing time twice a year, but also hate the consequences of not doing so. The other option is that instead of clocks changing you put school/work times back an hour in winter. That seems unlikely.
