The "good guy with a gun" stories are anecdotal and tend to be exaggerated.
As this links states, " easy access to guns" is the root cause.
On a scale of sensationalism, mass shootings with high body counts receive national media attention. In most cases, the weapons were legally possessed by the shooter.
The smaller the body count, the more likely the weapons were not legally acquired or possessed and more likely the shooter and victims or their affiliations were known to each other.
Home invasions are very rare.
Yet, most who own guns do not engage in mass shootings until one does.
No reasonable way to predict who the next mass shooter will be.
What used to be two guys arguing over a girl ending in a bloody nose has turned into one guy shooting at the other and 20 other people pulling out guns and joining in. Just too, too many guns out there in the hands of hothead kids and irresponsible people. And it gets worse by the day.
Too many guns in the hands of criminals and repeat criminals. Quit spinning the revolving doors of justice…and with guns being trafficked into the country everyday, they’ll still get their hands on them if they’re left loose on the streets. Greatly increase life without parole, solitary confinement, capital punishment, etc…, and show criminals there’s actual consequences to their actions versus defending and enabling them.

It doesn't look bright red to me. I mean, it is really easy to find this stuff when you are active on this website anyway. It is not a secret.
That is at least 7 elections over 30 years, and getting bluer all the time.
We are the only country on earth where this sort of carnage goes on day after day, week after week. Obviously there are alternatives.
But with the present interpretations of the 2nd Amendment, it can't be. We are going to have to live with it until we decide enough is enough - if that day ever comes.

Because violent criminals shouldn’t be put back on the streets, and while I’m greatly in favor of capital punishment, the defenders and enablers of violent criminals won’t just go for that.

Many of those places are where people's rights to carry are infringed.
But, seriously, there are no shortages of examples of citizens ending gunfights.

The one constant in these mass shootings is that they happen in liberal cities where gun laws are stricter. Conservative small town/rural communities are chock full of people who own guns yet there are no mass shootings. The good guys with guns are in these small towns and rural communities. It's why mass shootings only happen in liberal sanctuaries.
