Trickle down effect of sanctions:
Russia can no longer buy western tires. "No problem, China will provide them". And China did.
....."In Yakutsk now -55*С. Because of the terrible frost, all the “experimental Chinese tires” burst on the trucks right in the middle of the highway."

https://twitter.com/TrentTelenko/sta...03474136670209

Sanctions will work to defeat Russia regardless of what happens on the battlefield.

The major reason Russia is pushing their “we already captured Soledar” propaganda is the cold hard fact that the position Russia is currently in, where they control half of Soledar, is unsustainable in the long term. They would be eaten alive by artillery fire.
I can only imagine how they feel. Last night after dinner my gas stove tried to murder me.

According to Anders Åslund, something important is going on the Russian military command.

"The demotion of General Surovikin, his replacement by General Gerasimov & the promotion of General Lapin are clearly going against Prigozhin, Kadyrov & their war extremists, presumably also against Putin."

So what's going on here?

Could be why Prigozhin is big on the PR recently, to boost his image.

Also something going on with the Russian navy today, ships on the move…

Sudden Surge In Russian Navy Ships And Submarines In Black Sea

This morning Russian Navy ships and submarines left their base at Novorossiysk, in the Black Sea, en-masse. This is highly unusual and may indicate ongoing operations.

Sources seen by Naval News confirm the exodus. The group included the Project 11711 Ivan Gren class landing ship, Pyotr Morgunov, the largest amphibious ship in the Black Sea.

It also contained all three Project 636.3 Improved-Kilo class submarines which were present at the base. Analysis suggests that other warships were also sailing, leaving only a few warships and support vessels in the port. It is likely the most empty that Novorossiysk has been in many months.

Interesting. The Leopard 2 is a pretty serious piece of kit. Never been tested in this sort of battle, but the Danes and Canadians put it to good use in Afghanistan. Bradleys, Marders and AMX-10s - my heart goes out to the logistics officers.

If this goes according to their other operations, the Russians will bomb the hell out of a place. Then send soldiers in and claim they captured the area. These soldiers are promptly killed. The rest retreat.

Rinse and repeat.

Soledar isnt a victory or a loss really. Its a mixture of both even if they lose the city. The problem for Russia is that they just threw a ton of people into a meatgrinder to get....a city of less the 20k, thats basically destroyed. The only thing of real value is...salt mines. Which...not that valuable compared to the lives thrown at it.

If Russia wants victories like this, Ukriane will give them to them.
