For the entire history of Russia, they had maybe 1 good guy, the rest have been pretty bad.
When Putin is gone, he’ll be replaced by another bad guy. Same as North Korea and Iran.
Yeah, probably someone even worse. Boris Yeltsin is probably the only good one I'm thinking of. Gorbachev wasn't too bad at least compared to the others but that's not saying much.
If that is the case why is the U.S sending Ukraine more money? What's the point if they are just going to lose? The amount of money sent to Ukraine to fund this war with Russia is ridiculous.
You ask very good questions. Yes, Ukraine is going to lose and nothing can prevent that short of a nuclear war. But then everyone loses if nukes are used. Ukraine's main problem is that they have a severe manpower shortage in their military that no amount of money or weapons can change. The West knows this but want this to play out for as long as possible.
Why? Most of the money goes to arms manufacturers and other corporations here in the US, a small amount does go to Ukraine and is pocketed by Zelensky and his minions, with a small fraction given to defend Ukraine along with any available arms and military supplies. This war is a great moneymaker for US corporations and US and Ukrainian government officials. Yes, they know that Ukraine is losing and will lose, but hey, it's a nice gravy train so that they want to keep it going as long as possible before Ukraine collapses. In the end, Ukraine will be blamed for this failure. It will be everyone's fault but not the US. They will most likely say that they gave everything they could in money, weapons, and supplies, but the Ukrainians couldn't hack it and failed. There are many scenarios that will exonerate the West. Stay tuned and watch what happens.
I hear he looks weaker and is about to be toppled. So, that's all propaganda?
If Putin is toppled, he would most likely be replaced with someone more aggressive and more belligerent. The feeling in Russia is that Putin has been too soft on Ukraine. So if Putin leaves one way or another, expect the "special military operation" to change to a full-scale war with an American style "shock and awe" that will roll over everything and finish this war in Russia's favor real fast.
According to Politico, during a speech before the Council on Foreign Relations on Wednesday, European Central Bank Governor Christine Lagarde stressed that confiscating the roughly $260 billion in Russian assets currently frozen in Europe would violate the doctrine of international rule of law and will entail unpredictable consequences.
It is quite possible that the result of this action will be a more attentive attitude to the repeatedly voiced, but still considered marginal, paradigm for Russia - “Robbing the West is a gods deed that fully meets the interests of domestic national security.”

He doesn't look weaker straightforward at this point, BUT... his aura of "all-knowing" and "outsmarting everyone else out there" is fading, making plenty of people ( in Russian military in particular) questioning what's next.
And THIS in turn makes 'team Putin" to "tighten the screws" to tighten laws, being ready to accuse anyone exhibiting the signs of dissent ( real or perceived) in "extremism" or "slandering Russian army."
So to say that at this point Putin "looks weak" would be incorrect YET.
But I'm certain it's coming, the longer this war remains in limbo.

Dissent? You watching what's going on in New York right now? Putting an ex President on trial for no reason other than to try to fix another election?

Yeltsyn is the one who facilitated the plundering of Russia, which brought the dire consequences to general population of Russia back in the 90ies, and THAT'S WHY after he appointed Putin as his successor, Putin was/is still perceived as the "savior of the nation" - the way he has run economy/politics in Russia (domestically and internationally.)
