Even deadlier than an AR-15 in a classroom would have been a simple tube-fed shotgun with 00 buckshot.

I think, adding more laws is the way to go.

So this 18 year old could not legally buy a handgun until 21, but he could legally buy 2 assault rifles? He needed those to go hunting? For WHAT? A herd of buffaloes? A 22 rifle would be fine for hunting deer.

It was reported that the armed security officer at the door exchanged fire with him. Guess who was shot? Maybe not all weapons are created equal? Same thing happened at the Pulse Nightclub in Florida. Out weaponed.

Yet some armed teacher in a classroom would have stopped him? DUCK KIDS. Your teacher will shoot the bad guy.

to me, reason gun law, if you kill someone in a crime, automatic death penalty within 180 days
We’re sending billions and billions of dollars overseas, how about keeping some of that money here at home. We need a program in place that identifies those with mental illnesses or/and violent tendencies. We need law enforcement and social workers to work with school staff and the community at large to identify these individuals and follow through with investigating and ensure these individuals don’t possess or have easy access to firearms. This includes mental health treatment and long term follow up.

How many millions of people have bought AR-15s without incident?

Who would hunt deer with a "22 rifle"?

Do you even know what you're talking about?

So let's do something, anything, for the sake of doing something.

Doesn't matter what it is.

Yep, that sounds sane.

With regards to mental health, there's not enough psychologists/psychiatrists to do mental health evals every month on every single legal gun owner in the US, in order to decide if their guns should be taken away from them if they are found to be crazy!

1. an ar15 is NOT an assault rifle.... it is a small caliber (.22 or to be exact .223) sport/hunting rifle

It is illegal to hunt deer with a 22. It would just wound them. The AR 15 is not an "assault rifle". It is used for hunting feral hogs, coyotes, etc. You better have several rounds. A hog will attack when it is injured.
