You must have so little knowledge of what the founding fathers accomplished in that time for you to make a statement like that. The constitution was and still is to this day a landmark document. Your lack of understanding is showing. If you want to give up your firearm and be the next victim of one of these shooters, be my guest. I plan on doing what I can not to be one of these psychos victims.
Constitution is not the bible.... it can change if we the people want it too.
There is a reason these don't happen in other countries.
No, the constitution should never change. It is the bedrock of our society. The more it deviates, the screwed up this country will be. Guns do not kill people. If you ban them, then start banning cars, kitchen knives, pesticides, plastic bags and rocks, all of which have been used to kill people in the past. If someone is set in killing someone, there is no way to stop them.
Some things to consider for preventing shootings in the future by teens:
1. Is the "social emotional learning" helping or hurting kids?
2. Are these shooters on pharmaceuticals? Is there a link?
3. What mental health services are kids getting?
4. How much of this is caused by schools marginalizing young males?
Pertaining to young males. I don’t want people to take the idea that giving rights to women and acknowledging their issues or the issues of. One-straight makes=oppression of straight males. People use that as a way of being reactionary against movements for others.
I do think young males have been marginalized to an extent in terms of keeping them in a box.
I wanna use my dad for reference. I’m the typical male though not white. I had to ease off some of my dad’s negative influences. He was in the military and I also think his upbringing contributed to this. For him, showing emotion was weakness. If I cried, he belted me. He was emotionally unavailable to my mom and he even stated that my grandfather taught him that showing affection was weakness. For me early on this made me feel like I had to be mean and aggressive. To my siblings and and my mom hugging me is confusing because I feel like I don’t deserve it?
But growing up I realized being a man is not suppressing emotion. In the black and hispanic communities that are in poverty, the younger ones often mask masculinity with being gangster. To cover up insecurities.
Being a man just means taking care of yourself and others. Having the ability to take care of what you can, and understand what you cannot control.
As a matter of fact, that’s not necessarily just being a man, it’s just being an adult. That goes for all genders/races.
It’s not about being machismo, but about being responsible.
Rewrite the second amendment. Follow what New Zealand did. Australia did the same after a mass shooting.
That is the only way to keep this from happening. Listen, when you allow guns to be readily available like gum balls you are going to continuously have this happen. Just as we saw in Buffalo a few weeks again and now today in Texas. Who gives a damn right? As long as I can arm myself.... soon we are all going to be required to carry.
Again, this does not help us today. What can we do today to prevent future mass shootings?
Every school needs armed security guards. If we have armed security guards to protect people's money in Banks we should have armed security guards to protect children in schools.
Our incompetent government fails to protect our children once again. Think they really care about your children when all they do is put up signs? They should be sued for negligence at this point.
