In the final statement Cheney said of supporters of the former president that he "preyed upon their patriotism." And that's it in a nutshell. Patriotic Americans were misled by this man, and acted wrongly because they believed their president wanted them to do so.

I must say I was very impressed by the National Security Advisor. Proud of what he had accomplished while serving in the administration, a proud conservative, and resigned rather than condone wrong.

It was a sad day for America. That is certain. Sadder will be if his loyalists manage to get him back in office.

Except he did in fact tell folks to go home, and you’re assuming had he made a video earlier they’d have stopped, yet we hear how unruly the rioters were and how they were on a mission to take over the Capitol, albeit unarmed against a huge amount of armed Capitol police that could’ve easily taken them out. But since we’re assuming, it’s unlikely with all of this going on that they would’ve listened.

They played video of everything he said and all his tweets before and during the attempted insurrection. It underscored how he was only going through the motions, mostly to try to appease Ivanka.

You apparently did not watch people inside the Capitol watching and waiting for his word. As soon as he said to go home they knew and many started to leave.

His inaction is indefensible. He was the leader of an attempted coup. He was not the leader of the country. He violated his oath of office.

I read a lot of speculation and allegations but I don’t see anything that is a crime on the part of the previous administration. Is there any evidence of someone in the previous administration actively orchestrating the events on January 6? Any answers to the allegations of capital authorities opening the doors to the capital and waving in protestors? Any answers why the Speaker of the House denied National Guard and or additional law enforcement at the capital?

This has literally gone viral. I hope it follows him for the rest of his life.
