Are things like this even newsworthy anymore? It's Illinois. They love crime and criminals so this should only be expected. It's really not news. Just assume that increased crime is the norm now. Just don't visit if you value your life.
The Highland Park Fourth of July parade ended in panic when shots were fired about 10 minutes after the parade kicked off at 10 a.m. Monday, striking an unknown number of parade-goers and sending hundreds of people running for safety.
Multiple people were shot. A Chicago Sun-Times reporter saw blankets covering three bloodied bodies and five other people wounded and bloodied near the parade’s reviewing stand.
Several witnesses said they heard multiple shots fired. One witness said he counted more than 20 shots.
Miles Zaremski, a Highland Park resident, told the Sun-Times: “I heard 20 to 25 shots, which were in rapid succession. So it couldn’t have been just a handgun or a shotgun.”
Zaremski said that after the shots at Central Avenue around Second Avenue in downtown Highland Park, he saw “people in that area that got shot,” including “a woman covered with blood . . . She did not survive.”

When I saw the news alert on my phone saying shooting at 4th of July parade is said “Chicago”. Wasn’t far off the mark. Beetlejuice is really running the region down into a 3rd world country level.
Agreed. The shooter was probably some anti-American that hates the country and the American Flag so went there to kill those that celebrated the country. Lefties hate the country and our flag and the 4th of July. They hate America.
Considering it’s the Chicago area it isn’t that complicated. Most likely someone saw someone they had a beef with and just started spraying bullets randomly in the hopes their target was among those killed and to hell with their collateral damage.

It wasn’t Chicago. It was a wealthy north suburb like someone here said. Problem is that crime is extending out from the city in all directions.

What do you bet the shooter is found and set free in a few days because he has no criminal history or some other crazy reason.
I live not far from Highland Park. I've heard from various people that 5 are dead and 16 are hospitalized. Don't know how accurate that number is.
