Right, because taking classified documents when you shouldn't have them is "political" and the going after someone who does that is "political."

The only thing that would make this whole sordid situation "political' is NOT investigating it because Trump is a former president. The rest of us schlubs would be investigated, charged, and pay some penalty. To ignore this would be very political.

Heck the rest of us, if we did that, would be behind bars already....a long time ago!

True--you wouldn't have even been given the chance to negotiate with the FBI. So, yeah, this investigation is political in the sense that because he is a politician, Trump has been given favored treatment, when no one in this country is supposed to be above the law.

So incredibly, utterly, and absolutely wrong that it would be amusing but for the fact that I think you actually believe this.

This is what Trump said in 2016. I guess he doesnt practice what he preaches.

'' At a campaign event in Charlotte, North Carolina, Trump said, "On political corruption, we are going to restore honor to our government. In my administration, I'm going to enforce all laws concerning the protection of classified information. No one will be above the law."

It's not only that he is a politician. It is also because the DOJ and those in our government that still support the rule of law fear him.

Trump has a small but committed army of domestic terrorists and foot soldiers at his command that he would not hesitate to deploy if push comes to shove. What we saw on January 6th is just a taste of what we will see if the DOJ finally gets the courage to indict Trump.

I say bring it on. Why are we letting a thug like Trump hold us hostage?

They're missing until they're found. I don't think Garland has actually made any more statements other than that first video he did.

It is entirely laughable to watch the gyrations of MAGA trying every trick in the book to cast hard evidence as innuendo.

If Garland’s DOJ listed the folders as empty after three weeks of sorting the stolen documents, you can bet there was nothing in the 11,000 pages to refill them. What we are not presently being told is what they have found out about where the missing classified documents went.

There are multiple possibilities - the folders might have been empty when they were stolen from the White House. The documents might have been removed by Trump or his digitizing team and may be in a different location. One thing we have not heard is whether these empty folders have any metadata on them describing what the contents should have been.

There is no doubt that it's a concern for the team trying to analyze the damage that this breach has done to our national security. But it is not essential for the DOJ to build its case against Trump. They have so much evidence in hand that it is overwhelming.

In fact having so much evidence will delay the DOJ's effort to bring charges against Trump. They must have all of it organized and bullet proof before indicting Trump, at which time his defense team will begin the discovery process and will be able to review the evidence.
