2/3rds of US kids go to college.
Only 1/3 of those actually graduate after four years. It's a winnowing process.

Getting into a decent college is already quite challenging and most of them have generous financial aid and scholarship programs.

The real problem is that there's so many low quality colleges and universities that accept almost anyone.

I just don't understand it. What brings in forum members? I discovered this place years ago while looking up...well, city data, then in the city data information, there were links to threads in the forum. The whole premise essentially being data collection, which, from the posts around here, I'd expect 95% of the members to hate.

I think colleges receiving government assistance should be banned.

Really is it's actually a violation of the 1st amendment as it promotes one entity's 'speech' over another, thus suppressing the other.

Yes, a potential student should definitely know how to correctly use, "who's" and "whose."

Do you have a degree, Gerobime? If so, was it your experience that your peers were "unsmart?"

What colleges & universities are you talking about? Accredited top 25% schools have multiple criteria to get in, including minimum GPA, SAT scores, a student's qualifications, their planned major, their essay, their interviews, extracurricular activities, and a bunch of other hoops to jump through. The higher up the tier, the more competitive to get into.

Lots of feelings here -- any stats to back up the 'weakest kinds of people we see today' getting in.......'unsmart' people --define that for me.

All colleges and universities should be privatized and no government grants, loans or subsidies should be granted.
