Well...Fetterman did win...so it isn't that idiotic of a statement.

Crime has definitely become worse in most cities across the nation, but it's not at 1980's or early 90's levels...yet. Hopefully it doesn't get that bad, but if certain Democrats continue their "free bail" policies and not going after thieves and minor criminals, then we could see a crime explosion. If minor criminals are free to run amuck, eventually they'll graduate to more serious crimes.

I think that about sums it up. At least in Pennsylvania.

We have terrible inflation that is 100% the fault of our criminally incompetent and corrupt Democratic leadership.

Only Florida with its highly efficient voting system actually showed up for the people.

These are sad days.

No voter fraud.

I voted for the most incompetent president like apparently most other Americans. Maybe come to terms with that most people don’t believe in right-wing values. You have to go to places like Alabama, Mississippi, etc. (IE: states that NO ONE cares about).

Keep in mind also, a whole population of voting-age Republicans have died over the past 2 years for believing that taking Covid seriously is giving in to the libs. That plays a huge part in the numbers. Data shows a lot of Covid deaths have happened in Red counties.

For places like Pennsylvania, if you're located in the rough areas of Philadelphia then you see increases in crime but for the other 80% of people living outside of that area across the state and even in that city nothing has changed. This is the same in many states like Illinois and Missouri, those living outside of the rough areas have not seen much of a change which is the majority of the people in those states.

This holds true in Red and Blue states where crime has increased like Oklahoma, Texas, and South Carolina. People vote based on their experience day to day when it comes to crime from what I can see.

Yep, the crime increase disproportionately impacts poorer\minority communities.

Not just in terms of crime but the impact of having your car stolen is much greater for poorer people.

However, those are typically democratic bastions and they're not going to really vote R anyway.

Keep in mind big cities wind up being huge employers. The party in power is regarded as their job security. Many government jobs are unionized which means the employee and family benefit from it. They tell their friends. These tend to be turnout voters.

And last but not least Democrat governments frequently equate to more free stuff.

Because violent crime is handled at the city level. You can go out to Naperville, a Chicago suburb, it's a markedly sager place than Chicago.

Take Republican ran Alabama. Huntsville, AL. Last year it had 25 murders. While this is close to being a record for Huntsville, it's heaven compared to Birmingham, 90 minutes south. Birmingham had 132 murders last year. Birmingham has a population of 197,575 population. Huntsville has 227,000 people. Same state, same laws, same Republican government (and a high rate of imprisonment. Death penalty too). Markedly different murder rates. BTW, Alabama has one of the highest murder rates in America, worse than what Pennsylvania, New York, or Illinois. Birmingham has a higher murder rate than Chicago, Philadelphia, or New York. Alabama has corruption levels rivaling Louisiana and Illinois.

Crime is a local issue for local elected officials to deal with.

Yeah it's mostly local but if we look at Illinois it really shows how there is some broader impacts.

For example, Mayor Lightfoot in Chicago has complained about crime and the Cook County prosecutor having a negative impact.

Then at the state level you have their Safe-T act which has some good provisions but also with cash bail going away on 1/1/2023 there's likely going to be some bad.

So in this case if you live in Chicago you have your local pol like the Mayor but they're at the mercy of the Cook County Prosecutor and the new state laws...which are going to cause more trouble for Chicago than they will for Naperville as you wisely note. (I was just there recently at a Costco lol).

P.S. I'm trying to be fair to Lightfoot in this situation. I'm not a fan of her blaming everybody else for everything but in this case she's got some valid points.
