Yeah I found the use of "the gays" pretty funny. When bigots pretend to be cool trying to explain how outdated and prejudice adding the to it is, is impossible. The spirit of Archie Bunker is alive and well. I also love when they say something about anything gay and add not that there is anything wrong with that. Well, thanks all of us gay people were sitting around waiting for that type of lukewarm approval. We know there is nothing wrong with it. So next time anybody is thinking of typing that out just save it because it makes you look like you are struggling with something that is obvious to most.

I have nothing against the gays but lgbtq is a hate group.
I know a number of LGBTQ couples that have kids. They either adopt, use a surrogate, or a sperm donor for lesbians. No one here in Houston ever bats an eye.

LGBTQ can't be a hate group, because it isn't a group, it's a descriptor for a subsection of the population.

So "gays" is okay, but adding "the" in front of it makes it bad?

Is that like "colored people" (Bad!) and "people of color" (good!)?

You people with these language rules.

a) I could not care less about this. Gay people have jobs in all walks of life.

b) Why 20%? Do you have some kind of gay 'goal' or 'quota' to meet?

oh, "the gays"? Generally people stuck in a day gone by.

But they're still not 10%. And the CA Legislature still doesn't well-represent the demographics of the State, just the smallest sub-demographic of note.

Funny how people who want to be treated equally make the biggest fuss about being different.

I don't really care. It just makes the speaker sound antiquated and out of touch with modern societal norms. It's more akin to somebody that would say the blacks instead of black people. It isn't really complicated.

Funny how people who have been and are being physically assaulted and even killed for being different make a big fuss about it...

And?

Could we also get a tally as to how many of our handlers have in-sy bellybuttons and how many have out-sy bellybuttons? You know, since we are tallying traits that have zero to do with job competency or effectiveness. Maybe we could compile another statistic of how many have straight and how many have curly hair. Or how many have garbage day on Wednesday and how many have garbage day on Monday. Such important matters.

What doesn't matter is whether they can actually do their jobs--as long as they are in-sies who have curly hair and Monday garbage pickup. Those are boxes that need to be checked.
